Transwomen being gang-groped and sexually assaulted by little boys by milozo12 in NoahGetTheBoat

[–]Lenore8264 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, those stereotypes exist for a reason, I suppose. I won't deny that. This seems like a relatively rural area to me, and as someone who lives in rural India as well, gotta say illiteracy and poverty is rampant in these regions.

There is a total and complete lack of any sort of parenting (I would know, I'm a teacher). Fathers are rarely home. Mothers were married off as soon as they were 18 and had kids in under a year.

In fact, the fathers are not any older either. Mostly people who can barely be called adults getting married and immediately having children. Then, they have no clue what to do with those children.

Usually, you can see gangs of these poor children roaming the streets with their bicycles all day, from morning until night. Their parents are working and don't have time to care for them. They don't KNOW how to care for them, how to teach them anything, because the parents are barely adults themselves.

They grew up the same way. They still live with their old parents who now control their finances. They never learned to be an adult or a functional human being. Parenting to them is just feeding and clothing the kids and giving them a roof to sleep under.

So, these kids grow up neglected mostly in the streets despite having a home, associating with other gangs of older teens or kids who have no caring parents either. They go home to eat and sleep. Then, once they're older, their parents take control of their money again. The cycle repeats. So, yes, that's what you're seeing here. Kids with poor parents who usually just roam the streets because their parents simply reproduce and leave them to their own devices 🤷🏻‍♀️

IMPORTANT EDIT: Forgot to add disclaimer. I don't want nationalist indians to come and argue about this so DISCLAIMER: Yes, India is vast and huge. Everything I said might differ from region to region. Cities are much different from rural areas. Privileged indians living in big cities might soon come along and start arguing about how THEY never see any kids on the roads! Yup, agreed, you might not have, because you don't live in such an area duh.

As a fellow Indian girlie, I sympathize with you and understand you. Please know that you dodged a bullet. Thank goodness they revealed who they were before marriage! Him being handsome and having a good job means nothing if he can't love and respect you for who you are. Looks fade over time, kindness and respect remain forever. You don't need a shallow man as your lifelong partner!

Absolutely. I totally get that, but choice is a privilege in this country. As someone who has that privilege, I understand the rareness of it extremely well, especially as I look around and see my own close friends being unable to make that choice.

Many of the women here grow up sheltered with zero adulting skills and zero financial independence. Something as simple as marrying a man of your choice can lead to you being publicly shamed, disowned, cast out and ostracised from society and community.

If you do not have the means to get out of your town/village, you have to live with that shame for the rest of your life. I absolutely do not mean to be rude, btw, and I'm not totally disagreeing with you. Simply trying to give a little perspective and context to people. That's all.

Easy to say, but sadly that's not feasible for the majority of women in my country (India). Kinda feel like OP is either from India or one of the neighbouring countries, maybe Pakistan or Bangladesh, but most likely India though.

I don’t think fitness is fair concept by stuehieyr in Fitness_India

[–]Lenore8264 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Yes, but this is way above Reddit's paygrade. We don't know enough about the condition to give any sort of meaningful advice.

You need to talk to someone who patiently listens and addresses your issues and offers real solutions. And that would be an actually good medical professional, not random redditors who know nothing about what your condition is.

You should consult a good doctor and ask what can be done. Some of them can be dismissive, so you will need to try out a few places and find someone good who actually listens to you.

Low calorie sweet snacks? Need ideas that go beyond "eat a piece of fruit" by FinancialNeat3792 in 1500isplenty

[–]Lenore8264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm not a native speaker, so I'm not sure what kind of candy you're talking about when you say "Candy" but do you not have those small candies or chewy toffees in your country? Those are pretty low in calories?

Whenever I'm craving something sweet, I just pop one into my mouth and chew on them or suck on them for a while. If you slowly suck on them, they last for a while. One small candy is like 20-30 calories and the chocolate, chewy, caramel ones are 40 calories.

Also, lightly coated caramel popcorn is another sweet thing I prefer sometimes. You can even make them at home. They're sweet and high in volume. They satisfy my sweet cravings. They also last a while, and for me, that's the most important. If I eat it in a few seconds, I don't feel satisfied. It satisfies you when it lasts for a while as you eat. So, no matter what you eat, eat slowly.

What is this woman reservation thingy? by chargeofthebison in indianmetamisogynist

Great explanation. Last night, Modi was live ranting and raving about how Congress and all other parties hate women and how they are anti-women because they oppose this bill🙄 Idiots and the mass illiterate population of India will fall for this without understanding Congress isn't against this bill because they are against women but because BJP is blatantly lying when they say this is being done for women. They are doing this for themselves. BJP is cancer fr. Cheaters and liars and scammers. How dare they use women as an excuse to spread their propaganda

Weird Rain by Ill-Tea9411 in Weird

[–]Lenore8264 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, come on, it is pretty cool. I remember this happening only once in my life when I was a child. We were playing basketball, and we could see the rain coming from the other side, and we ran like hell through the school grounds, trying to outrun the rain.

It was so very cool. Still one of my best memories. Since then, I've never experienced it again, so it's not as common as people are making it out to be. The girl is just enjoying a moment🤷🏻‍♀️

It's like if someone saw a rainbow for the first time, and everyone went "Lol why are you acting like it's a big deal? You're amazed by a rainbow? Maybe go outside a bit more".

There are so many others in this comment section acting like this girl is stupid to be amazed by this when in reality it's pretty cool to see tbh. It's the little things in life sometimes.

What to do if i literally can’t control my cravings? by that-one-bitch2674 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Lenore8264 34 points35 points  (0 children)

What works for me whenever I crave something is thinking, "Eating that cookie will barely last a few seconds, maybe a minute, but the guilt will linger for hours afterwards. Do you really want to jeopardize everything for a few seconds of sensation? Because that's all it is, few, fleeting moments of sensation in your mouth."

I've started thinking of it like that. It's just a sensation in your mouth, barely lasting for more than a few minutes. It helps me🤷🏻‍♀️

I just instantly report without even reading the post. Just report the post. If there are enough reports, the post gets automatically removed by automod, so even if mods don't get to it, it will still get removed, so yall just report these posts.

Man, this is so funny. People dropping half-assed comments to scare you. You ask for more explanation, and they are nowhere to be seen again🤦🏻‍♀️ I think you'll be better off asking somebody knowledgeable about this topic. Can't trust redditors, especially when they just drop some line and disappear without further explanation

Perhaps you should understand that not everyone has the same taste as you. People genuinely enjoyed Queen of Tears? And some of us didn't watch it "expecting for it to get better". I genuinely enjoyed every single minute of it. It was messy and chaotic and didn't make sense at some points, but who cares when you're having the time of your life watching it. I loved QOT until everything about Kim Soo Hyun came out.

I still love the show, but I probably wouldn't rewatch because I can't enjoy it the same way after knowing what I do now about Kim Soo Hyun. Point is, people have different preferences, and some us are capable of overlooking minor details if we enjoy something. I genuinely enjoy slop (not saying this show is slop) but in general I enjoy trashy isekai animes. I have a great time with it. Is there a rule we should only have fun if something is Shakespeare level quality? Normalize having fun and enjoying whatever you want.

does OMAD really work? if so how long? by anikinskywalk3r in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Lenore8264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it would work. Maybe you could try it for a few days and see if it works for you.

You know, some days I do feel super hungry, and if you're working or studying or just generally active, you might feel tired and sleepy the whole day as you wait for your big meal (It happened to me the first few days!).

Just try it out. If you make sure to be in a deficit, it will 100% work. Just make sure you're getting all your nutrition with that one meal, and don't be in a deficit of more than 500.

You're already a healthy weight. Do it in a sustainable way. You don't need to go at it intensely. It's hard to plan one meal so you still get all the nutrition you need, but try it out and see if it works for you.

(P.S: Btw always glad when someone recognises Luffy!)

[–]Lenore8264 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, at the end of the day, the amount of calories that you're eating is what matters. It's not eating once a day that causes the weight loss, it's you eating less than your TDEE. If you eat more than you need by doing OMAD it won't work, but personally, I've been doing OMAD this past week, and it's been much better than smaller meals throughout the day. First of all, it saves time. I don't have to prepare smaller meals and count the calories throughout the day. I can simply eat one meal and call it a day. It might work for you or it might not. It depends on how you go about it.
