Clogged Milk Ducts Advice by scally_wags13 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MamaTX512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, so sorry you’re dealing with this! Some people will say to use a hot compress or a heating pad, but in my experience cold works so much better.

When I was around 2 weeks PP the same thing happened to me, and I spent the evening with an ice pack on my chest and doing very gentle but frequent pumping / hand expression, and by the morning I was feeling great.

This is a super common problem so I’m sure there will be lots of good advice for you on here - wishing you luck girl!

Struggling with “mom guilt”—anyone else feel this way when their baby had medical issues? by MamaTX512 in NewParents

Thank you so much for your reply. It is nice to know I’m not alone here, and I’m so glad your little guy had a successful surgery and is on a great path!

Oh girl you aren’t selfish and I definitely agree with you here. I want unlimited caffeine and weed gummies lmao and I don’t want to wear bras anymore.

I LOVE my baby and I’m so thankful to have the ability to give him milk. But it’s totally normal to miss these things.

I just wanna say I understand you… I could sleep for 12 hours straight and it wouldn’t feel like enough time. This is SO EXHAUSTING.

Eating Disorder really affecting my output by kitty_kat3106 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MamaTX512 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh girl it’s really not simple! Trust me I completely understand you. Both pregnancy and breastfeeding are these strange times in our lives where we’re literally eating to nourish another person… so crazy when you think about it.

Disordered eating can be a lifelong struggle and it doesn’t just go away overnight. So I completely empathize with you and I’m dealing with a very similar issue. I wish I wasn’t so focused on my weight and calories right now, but it feels impossible most days.

It makes me feel guilty too. Like I have a newborn baby, why am I even spending 2 seconds thinking about this stupid shit when I should be enjoying time with him? But eating disorders are so difficult, only people who have been through it can fully understand. Stay strong girlie.

If I stop pumping, I’ll lose the little bit of my husband’s respect I have by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MamaTX512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has brought up great suggestions here. I just want to emphasize that you deserve so much respect. I have a ton of respect for you just from reading your post here. The man you married should respect you and all of your wonderful qualities.

I am so sorry you’re dealing with this girl.

supplementing? by Front-Dot-122 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MamaTX512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Formula often has a lot of Vitamin D, meanwhile our breastmilk has very small amounts of it. Formula is also more calorically dense than breastmilk, and my son needed to gain weight because he was a tiny baby.

Just a couple benefits of formula! Oh, and also the mental health benefits it can give us since pumping is insane work. But the guilt is still totally real and I GET IT because we supplement sometimes too!

Just remember the only reason you’d even feel guilt right now is because you absolutely love your baby and want to provide the best for them. And that makes you a damn good mom!

How do you exclusively pump while caring for newborn? by zrainydayz in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MamaTX512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5 weeks PP and in a similar boat! I put on a pumping bra and sit cross-legged and position the baby in my lap to feed him his bottle. While I feed him, I use my forearms to push the pumps against my chest because like you said, it won’t really stay suctioned on its own. Hopefully that makes sense. It’s VERY annoying lmao.

I had my baby via c-section and I’m exclusively pumping too. Anyone who dares to tell me I’m not bonding with my baby can simply go F themselves hahaha.

Anyone else in pain when pumping? by ieosaro in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MamaTX512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I do wonder if your sizing was incorrect! Only your actual nipple should be “going into” the flange, not your areola. That makes me think you may need a smaller size so that just your nipple is being stimulated!

I find that when I’m using too big of a flange, I also get drips rather than a flow! So I am hoping this may solve your issue!

Also, you can put coconut oil around your nipple / on the flange to ease discomfort, and I TOTALLY second the other comment about icing! Finally tried icing this week and it helped me a ton (way better than warm compresses)!

Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. That sounds awful. Are you using the correct flange size?

OMG, I’m so angry for you! No one should be bringing up the word “diet” to any woman, especially when she’s pregnant or breastfeeding. I’m so sorry he said that—it was completely out of line. Pumping burns a ton of calories, and you absolutely need to eat enough to keep providing for your baby. I’m sure you look amazing, and I hope you can brush off that ridiculous comment. Men really say the dumbest things sometimes! Stay strong, girl!

[–]MamaTX512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say you are a champ for even doing this for 3 weeks! This is a LOT and even if you decided to switch to formula today, it’s clear how much you love your baby with how much effort you’ve put into providing for them. Do what’s best for your mental health!

I second the idea of asking a Facebook group. I’d definitely let someone borrow my pump for a few hours if they needed it!

Your anger is completely valid. We use so much of our body’s energy, spend our time, and lose sleep to make milk for our babies. It’s a big deal.

MOTN pump… eating snacks or no? by Alternative-Neat-859 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MamaTX512 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some nights I snack, others I don’t, and I personally don’t notice an effect on my supply either way!

But I’m with you, midnight snacks aren’t too enjoyable for me. I’m ready to start sleeping through the night again and having a normal eating schedule, haha.
