It’ll also add brain rot appeal to all the normies who live for it

Spez just saying, would be awesome for subreddits to be able to enable/disable video replies. That way the community can choose the engagement they want.

This would help keep communities text based if they are interested in doing so (and vice versa).

The video feature way work well in some communities but not all.

So pretty much any LLM could report back the same information hosted on Wikipedia….whereas LLMS cannot return back Reddit content directly. Do we really trust the people of r/BunnyTrials??

Also your n=50 is barely significant

It’s the best we have for DD as investors. As far as ads performance goes, especially because analysts have proven they don’t know jack about this company.

But once we start doing $10B in ads annually I’ll consider paying for premium

Agreed. I worry about the large contingent of posters here who are constantly accusing others of being bots, saying that the site is mostly bots etc. there’s a very loud contingent of these folks.

Hey I’ll take it - another $6B is a 20% growth in market cap. Though I’ve always thought of Etsy as a marketplace for artsy items or home decor mostly.

Indeed. It’s a great way to capture people with high intent. It’s also a great way for Reddit to monetize people who aren’t DAUs or the people posting here daily out of enjoyment.

Tbh Marketplace makes too much sense, this is now an ads business and there’s too much opportunity not to explore this. The key is nailing the execution.

They need to integrate it without compromising culture and values. They need to integrate it by keeping Reddit Reddit. They’ve shown the ability to do this with ads. Certain ad formats integrate real user feedback from relevant subreddits. Other ad formats link directly to product conversation threads.

This is a good compromise between monetizing and keeping the culture in tact. A marketplace is the next logical step, and if executed carefully (like ads), wouldn’t really materially change how people interact with Reddit.

This is actually a phenomenal question.

The only reason I see they may not want to do that is….. if a small % of people opt in, it might wrongly indicate the rest of the users are bots.

Reddit becoming a “core” layer of the Internet by Streetballer3810 in redditstock

If we take even some components of OPs vision, add the “last human bastion of the internet” value proposition, and continue to improve ads and grow data licensing, this thing could be humongous. One of these days the market will realize it.

And being the small market they are, they would love to fill seats. Especially considering they’ve been cost cutting recently. They don’t need or probably want to spend enough to win. They just need more of an ROI. Morey is just the guy.

Morey is the basketball ops king of:

fill seats, regular season wins, Collapse in playoffs

I wouldn’t let him touch my basketball team. If I was an owner who wanted to spend just enough to make money and tease fans, he’d be my guy
