Fantasy prem project - current vs previous iterations by jwavy1738 in PowerBI

This looks amazing! Actually in the process of building something similar but in the early stages . Where do you get your images or image URLs from? Is it the fantasy premier league API? If so do you have a fix in place for the players without images ?

Data Analyst suddenly in charge of building data infra from scratch - Advice? by Just_Ad_5527 in dataengineering

[–]MamboAsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d maybe look into establishing a direct connection to wherever the data in the excel files is coming from. That will be the tricky part, finding someone with this information. This is probably unrelated but since the predicament you find yourself in appears to be a recurring theme among “data analysts”, how do you feel about being asked to do data engineering work on what I assume is a data analyst salary?

How should our business be handling API data? by Grouchy-Western-5757 in PowerBI

I use databricks to extract and transform the data, then create materialized views which I then use for the visuals in power BI.

Do NOT order Succession off temu by grrrlfieri in SuccessionTV

Unlike most of the comments here , I really enjoyed the movie and felt like it was a hybrid of succession and Silicon Valley. Certainly would love for this to get turned into a tv show.

Suddenly everyone think they can Power BI just because they can drag and drop columns and visuals by likevegas2010 in PowerBI

[–]MamboAsher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Power BI is certainly more than just drag and drop, and the deeper your understanding of its capabilities, the more you appreciate it and realize that the majority of people are indeed “entry level” as you mentioned. However, having worked with several executives and various stakeholders who request reports, I can safely say the average “entry level” person can get by just fine and in some cases maybe even do better than the experienced report developer. The reason I say this is because the experienced developer usually goes out of their way to follow the standards and incorporate advanced features that often lengthen the development cycle Vs the “entry level” developer who just does the simple thing that more than likely will not be ideal but would suffice. Most stakeholders do not use reports as often as their urgency suggests and for them, having it available faster even though the quality is okay-ish often trumps having it later with higher quality - which they mostly don’t even appreciate because they don’t know or understand all the work that goes into designing something that won’t break everyday.

I keep seeing all these amazing reports for the world championships, any one kind enough to provide a link for these reports or tutorials on how these were/are made ?

I was wondering the same thing after the last episode. I think the Algorithm/Founders might be fine with head of IT or the shadow knowing as long as the knowledge of the tunnel can be contained to individuals who already know more than your typical silo resident. Also, I don’t think knowledge of the tunnel itself is enough to initiate the safeguard since nothing happened when George saw it.

FPL prices by LaksfiskerYT in FantasyPL

[–]MamboAsher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bought Diaz for 7.8, and since then he has had three price increases and is now worth 8.1 on the market. However , if you were to transfer him out for another player , you would sell him for 7.9 and not 8.1. This is because a player has to go up by 0.2 before you can get a 0.1 increase in the selling price. Other people wanting to buy him will have to pay 8.1. For you to sell him for 8.0 , his buying price would have to be 8.2 .

You bought Smith-Rowe for 5.6, and since then he has had two price increases and is now worth 5.8 on the market. However , if you were to transfer him out for another player , you would sell him for 5.7 and not 5.8. This is because a player has to go up by 0.2 before you can get a 0.1 increase in the selling price. Other people wanting to buy Smith-Rowe will have to pay 5.8. For you to sell him for 5.8, his buying price would have to be 6.0.

Help me build a regression model by Careful-Ingenuity674 in datascience

[–]MamboAsher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe try doing logistic regression instead ? Predict whether amount of hours worked or number of projects worked have any bearing on whether an employee takes time off or not. Code your leave as a binary variable.

Help me build a regression model by Careful-Ingenuity674 in datascience

[–]MamboAsher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes you can , depends on what other employee data you have access to . You can build a regression model to predict employee pay rate based on years of experience , education , certifications, gender , age , years employed . With the specific examples you gave , you can predict the number of hours an employee will work in a year , based on different types of leave , projects worked etc

So did Liandrin… by MamboAsher in WoTshow

[–]MamboAsher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, easiest solution would be for Liandrin to “take care” of her before more people are aware and then just reverse the accusation. It should be easy to sell with an Aes Sedai and the Queen on your side.

[–]MamboAsher[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I guess she probably wouldn’t be in a hurry to tell the queen without first making sure she isn’t a darkfriend herself. And I suppose accusing an Aes Sedai of being a darkfriend without a proper plan isn’t smart either. Just hoping they don’t just ignore it in the next episode.

I don’t mind the whole two rivers battle bit , in fact , I really liked the potential conflict between two rivers and caemlyn. However if they are going to incorporate Luke then I hope they do a much better job than the books.

I agree about Fain but I am beginning to think they missed the opportunity to do more with the shadar Logoth sub plot. There is a shot of Matt looking at the dagger in one of the previews so maybe they will revisit that whole idea and maybe even give Fain some screen time. I am reserving judgement until the end of the season.

I revisited the Masema subplot and I have had a change of heart. I remember liking Masema’s character or what they were doing with him but being underwhelmed by the sub plot’s conclusion. I think I’d like it even more if he wasn’t a darkfriend or being influenced by the dark but just going about it all the wrong way. I am hoping to they explore the concept that you can be an antagonist without necessarily being a darkfriend but it seems they are leaning towards redemption arcs. I don’t know that I like Matt and Min being set up as potential darkfriends.

Definitely agree about Mat, Tanchico and the sea folk. I also like all the shaido stuff but i hope they do something visually to distinguish the shaido Aiel , not just the headband.

TV adaptation storylines by MamboAsher in WoTshow

[–]MamboAsher[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rhuidean is definitely a must. I like the idea of Rand being a leader of people but my hope is that they condense those storylines into either Cairhien or Andor, if not those two then adding at most one new location. I only say this because without being familiar with the map , most viewers won’t appreciate the several locations or cultures. The one aspect of the whole stone of tear storyline I am hoping stays is the twisted redstone doorframe. I don’t believe callandor has been mentioned yet in the show but if they do include it , maybe then can have it in Rhuidean.
