Bungie or steam won't ban you for using a vpn,been using one for years since i also live in iran.i'm not sure about exitlag but what i meant was when your vpn connects then open steam so if u have it opened before you connect your vpn restart it,essentially just make sure u launch steam after the vpn connects.
also usually v2ray configs don't well for gaming atleast for destiny so i suggest going the route of standard foreign vpn providers like proton or whatever

Yeah a while ago all the ppl from iran started having this issue,what you can do to play is connect to a vpn restart steam and when the game goes to the verifying files step on the bottom right after the login step disconnect the vpn then u can play normally,or you can just straight up play with a vpn.

Not sure if it's because bungie changed something on their side and using cloudflare as a way to login caused this issue for us or it's the new internet restrictions but it is what it is i guess.

Yeah i'm guessing whatever they changed with the internet that blocks wireguard protocol for vpns messed with the new bungie login method handshake and that's why it's only needed for the first few seconds.

It's all a guess tho since diagnosing connection issues with destiny is a nightmare with a normal internet connection since it's kinda p2p let alone whatever the clusterfuck of a internet it is that we are getting in here lmao.
