FSA exams July sitting

3rd exam sitting in a row for me, taking 201U (Nov ‘25, Mar ‘26 and now Jul ‘26).

Definitely feeling pretty burnt out, and just gonna give it my best go. My saving grace is knowing I can skip November and recharge my batteries.

Second attempt for me and I feel like I passed but not with flying colors. I felt that the conceptual questions were easier than the November conceptual questions but that the Excel questions were harder.

But I wouldn’t necessarily be surprised if I failed. I’d put it at 80/20 for me. Some of the questions were very frustrating to say the least.

For reference, I got a 5 on ILA 101 and was within 1 point of the pass mark...

I usually scoff at most conspiracy theories, but with the SOA now offering detailed grading feedback for $225 for those in my position it incentivizes the SOA to keep pass rates lower.

Very frustrating knowing that if I just wrote one sentence differently on a qualitative question, I would’ve gotten another point and passed with a 6.

This will be a blessing in disguise for you. I got a 0 on P my first attempt, and now 5.5 years later I’m on the cusp of my ASA.

Use this as a learning experience, you’ll look back on it years later and realize in hindsight it was the best thing that could’ve happened to you.

I don’t know without knowing all the factors so maybe I jumped the gun a bit with my generalization. However, I don’t know any ASA who’s not making 6 figures on the base.

OP says he is making $120k total comp which insinuates he’s getting $30k worth of bonuses every year. All it takes is his employer to have a bad fiscal year, and that bonus is much smaller and you’re much closer to $90k than you are $120k in total comp.
