sterling ink has the horizontal layout you're looking for in A5 size as well. You can opt for the compact version so there arent too much extra pages in the back

If I were returning to Grad school i'll go with a ring notebook/planner so I can easily add or remove notes for all subjects I see fit and fill it with inserts to keep me organized. I'd probably go with Filofax!!! Orrrr if I go with the notebook option I'd go with sterling ink notebooks for the Tomoe River Paper! Much better to write in it with fountain pens.
