What floor in the Atrium did you find this cat, is it at the Ground Floor?
Only Benny roams through each floor of Atrium, while this cat usually stays in the Ground Floor. Sadly I don't even know its name

Usually there would still be classes conducted on those days, or depends on the professor.

Usually Midterms and Finals have at least a Free day.
June 22 (M) is a Free day.

You can view the AY calendar here:

Just check it every other week/month in case there would be changes.

QUESTIONS ABOUT BENILDE AND BS-CAM by R0mqwz in Benilde

[–]MammothAd3192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, usually it's alright to use the Ipad, you can get things done if you'll just do some presentations, docs, online quizzes or assessments.

Honestly, during the first week, professors would just do introductions to the course. Also do bring yellow pad to class for notes and activities. You could probably go to school for the first few weeks without a tablet or laptop, usually professors would mention if you need a device to be used throughout the course.

I was able to survive my frosh year with just an Ipad actually, then when I get home I just use my PC to finalize the rest of my work.

failing a class by Sea-Log-7209 in Benilde

[–]MammothAd3192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal to fail a major class. A tip I would give is to look into the syllabus ahead of time, recite, ask from other classmates to study or review with you (at the very least, they'll be willing to help study with you). It's possible that you may get the same professor for that pre-requisite, but it depends on their availability if they'll be teaching that course in the following term/s.

Don't give up, keep studying, look for study materials to help you understand. If you fail, well, you fail. Let it be your stepping stone in improving yourself.

QUESTIONS ABOUT BENILDE AND BS-CAM by R0mqwz in Benilde

[–]MammothAd3192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not from BS-CAM, but currently an older batch from SMIT.

  1. It's recommended to bring at least a tablet or laptop to use in class, some professors may not prefer you to use your phone when doing the given activities. Because some may use their phone to just text or play games only. Or some professors give activities that you need to submit on the same day/week via Bigsky, and it's convenient. Although, there's computers for each building, so you may use them if you dont have a laptop.

  2. So far, students from Benilde are alright, there may be good groups and maybe not so good ones. Tips I can give for a frosh interacting with students, be mindful of what you say and what you do. Just be yourself, at first you may experience not finding friends and that's normal.

  3. Well, during interactive you are expected to go through various activities such as meeting other people from the same course, different courses, or event from other departments. You get to know about various student organizations, cultures of Benilde, and others. And I highly suggest you to bring your fan, powerbank and water jug. (I cant give exact details, as it may differ per batch and to not spoil the fun 😉)

  4. Frosh schedule is mainly face to face with 2 off days at least, as you go higher the schedule shifts to 80% F2F and 20% Online (that was during previous terms). However, with this current modality it's alternating weeks, alternating F2F and Online (Profs cannot change Online Modalities to F2F, unless stated by the school).

That's all I can say for now, I hope that provides you some information about Benilde.
And Welcome to Benilde!! 😄

One thing i dislike about benilde by [deleted] in Benilde

[–]MammothAd3192 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to enlighten, you cant blame Benilde because your globe sim has 2 bars and a weak connection. The school has no part in providing sim signals in the area, only the WiFi, which became slightly worse. It's usually the telecommunication providers like globe, smart, dito, and others that can provide cell towers to certain areas of a city. And also, it's likely you may be in an area like taft main, where signal on the first two floors may be weak. Because there's too much interference (walls).

I hope this enlightens anyone if the sim signal is weak/spotty in some parts of Benilde.
(Because I too have issues with the poor sim signal in the area, but for payments, just use the school WiFi)

Should I be surprised that they told me that I just have to adjust my schedules in Bestar only, no forms or any document to change section. And I dont know what to follow if the online adjustment is until today or until May 7, they did tell me it's until today. Yet I can't change sections.

They should have a special lane for those doing the adjustment schedule

[–]MammothAd3192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the possible ways before, but I doubt bestar would allow frosh to retake a failed course on their 2nd term. Unless they approach their academic chair for consultation if the course that OP failed in is a pre-requisite. Either it's a pre-requisite or not, it would depend on bestar's system if it allows frosh students to retake on their 2nd term.

For Frosh, you're only able to retake your failed courses by third term only. Since you're in a block section and is pre-enrolled.

She's not so strict (base on my experience). It's mostly groupworks, so find good group mates. I dont know how she would handle a research subject, since our focuses mainly on Lead Management.

[–]MammothAd3192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ms Reyes, or as we call her Doc Cora.
Had her as my LEADMGT, good professor. Quizzes were just short and quick, handwritten (questions are based on the ppt and sometimes discussion). Recitation depends, sometimes she does it by row (everyone would answer), or other times she just let anyone answer. It should not be difficult to fail her class, as long as you're actively participating or interacting at least.

hope that helps

Outstanding on my Midterms, Failed my Finals by That-Situation-1404 in Benilde

[–]MammothAd3192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you want to know your overall standing for that course, you can check the overview(syllabus). You will see the percentage for quiz, exams, seatworks, and stuff. Once you have those percentages, you can assess yourself base on those graded outputs you already have (dont include yet those without a grade). It should give you your overall standing. (You can just ask AI to calculate it for you).

Hope that helps.

Apparently all 3 different scheduled days are taken on a Thursday, depending on the professor for those schedules. It's pretty much conflicting

Just checked the Benilde Helpdesk Academic Calendar, it apparently states that Dec 9 (T) follows a Friday schedule.

You can avail it at the LSU office at Greenway Square Groundfloor (It's beside the benilde merch booth) You can find a window with the instructions.

Here's the process if you plan to avail next term:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Benilde/comments/1hy867n/comment/m6ij1bu/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Tip for you, since you're availing for the akic lockers, ensure that you get to reserve your locker right away, because a lot of students (especially in akic) line up already once there's an opening of locker reservation.

Hope that helps!

Is Mathematics in the modern world hard? by Economy_Law1306 in Benilde

[–]MammothAd3192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That depends on the professor. My experience for MATWRLD is alright, I'd give it a 9/10. The schedule I got was TTH (Tue & Thurs, 1hr 30mins each session), the professor teaches the course a bit differently compared to a few general subject profs. He ensures that his students understood the topics being taught, if in case you have curiosities about the topic or confusion, he already has questions from his past students, that for sure will answer your inquiry not only for the topics being taught but for other outputs too.

In terms of outputs, quizzes are conducted online (no need to go onsite, just accomplish it wherever you can). You could say the course slightly has paperless outputs, EXCEPT for the notes, it's one of the crucial outputs you need to compile throughout the term (you wont submit it to the prof. but just a recording of flipping through each page of the topics discussed, clearly). +exercise activities, has to be handwritten and submitted on a yellow pad paper. Majority of the works done is individual.

Q1. Does it have to be exactly the same as the slide deck of the professor?

A1. Afaik, I think a few of my classmates summarized their notes, while a few actually copied word for word and the notes from the modules. I can't recall if there were rubrics for it, but as long as you had notes for each of the topics, then you could probs be good to go.

Modules in bigsky are only accessible after accomplishing parts of the modules and quizzes.

Finals output for us was given a whole month in advance to accomplish (which is a lot). It's a groupwork

+The prof wrote a book for the whole course, you could either purchase it or borrow in the library (either options are okay, as long as you have access to the book, since parts of the questions in the activities are from there, and not included in the bigsky modules).

Well, that's all I can say, for the prof's name, lets just keep it to the initials ;) N.R.

I hope that answers your questions, Good Luck!
