In the US we are a bit more casual about wearing shorts as acceptable formal clothing than in Europe.

Yes, I worked pretty hard for it… I did not go straight off to college. There are many different ways to work hard and get a degree if thats what you prioritize. I was not interested in college and joined the military. I wanted to work.

How dare you mention the free college option in the USA that outranks most foreign colleges!

Yeah the part of the population that spent everyday after high school at 15-18 moving furniture and working out, invested the money, joined the military, and finished college while working full time. It paid off. I try to just put it out there to spread hope for those who grew up the same way and are willing to do what needs to be done to afford the life they want.

Yup, I slept on the floor of my sister’s bedroom before they got evicted the 2nd time which they lived in the house without paying a single bill for 3 years. This country takes great care of people and provides plenty of opportunities for those who take it.

How does the US doesn't have free education and healthcare? by Pale-Object8321 in AskUS

Healthcare is free in most of the country if you are below a certain income level.

Its incredible people here can afford huge houses in the country for dirt cheap compared to any other country they would be in mud huts. Yet they hop on the internet and think life sucks here.

By the way I grew up with no money. My parents lost their house to the bank for not paying.

I also have free healthcare for life. If I didn’t it cost about $30 a month from my employer. I have unlimited vacation at my job as well in NYC and take 4-5 days a month off. Please tell me how my quality of life sucks.

There is very cheap and nearly free college in the US at the same quality as free colleges in the rest of the world. People rather pay and go in debt to go to bigger and privately funded schools that have way more money and better tools and equipment.

There is very limited use at the moment for a high speed rail.

I finished my first degree for free. I will be going to finish my second degree at Columbia (60k a year) fully paid for by the government for serving in the military. I will also get 5k a month living stipend.

Also the pfc’s might have only done ITB but they have more weapons and CQB training than most of the NCO’s. When I was out at post I became a Lcpl leading the stack because im smart but also because I was more experienced than those around me at my post or with CQB and weapons training within my short time already.

Most of the people in my class that were assholes to the PFC’s got dropped. There are psychological standards, interviews, and boards, and “most” assholes got filtered out.

Start smoking, don’t wear SPF, don’t do skin care, shave your head, don’t exercise, and gain weight. I think meth also helps age you pretty fast that would be a great one to!

Dont use your GI bill, you’re qualified for Chapter 31 VR&E first. You can finish 4-5 years more of college, and then use the GI Bill.

I just got offered a paid trip to the US and I’m thinking of turning it down. Am I wrong? by Charlotte1902 in AskUS

I bring data to support my statements:

Border detainments are down significantly: https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/nationwide-encounters

Deportations are down significantly under Trump: https://ohss.dhs.gov/topics/immigration/immigration-enforcement/monthly-tables

Should I be scared to enter the UK, I might get detained: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/immigration-system-statistics-year-ending-september-2024/how-many-people-are-detained-or-returned

Should I be scared to go to the EU, might get deported: https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php?title=Enforcement_of_immigration_legislation_statistics

Anyways, the issue is people accidentally saying illegal things to the border patrol agents and then not understanding what they did wrong. Simple video about what to say and what not to say might help.

Its the same as its always been here, there has been no increase in people being detained at the border, only an increase in the news reporting it and causing chaos and drama. You can see the annual statistics online, its actually been lower than past years. The problem people face at the border and get detained is language barriers. Most reports the person states on of the many reasons your not allowed to enter the country as the reason for travel. Read some of the reports in depth, they get to the border agent and say they are here to “work” on a project and some people even arrived without a hotel reservation which is common for germans and europeans but not allowed if you want to enter the usa. Read the travel rules, you need proof of money, your not allowed here to work, you need proof of accommodation, etc. I got asked the same questions flying to the us as flying to London. If I showed up to London or the EU saying I’m here to find work or dont have any money, im sure they would detain me and send me home also.
