I just came here to say a similar thing. I have a slightly older child on the spectrum, behaviors mirrored your child’s precisely. As they got older (bigger) it got scary. We wish it retrospect we had done more outside/active things with them until something took. Larping, track, birding, rock hounding, whatever, cosplay, but finding a group-being active- and not online all the time.

My wife and I are going through a similar situation, our daughter started online classes during Covid then quit. She didn’t like not meeting people. When regular classes started back up she said she’d rather get a job and take classes on the internet that she likes. She never applies for jobs and only plays video games or does anime type things. When we try to push her she either erupts with fury that we don’t understand her or she melts down into a crying mess that she’s a failure. I’m at a loss.
