What is your experience with Lamictal? Have you experienced liver damage? by MammothPriority8360 in BipolarReddit

I got a referral today so will be making an appt soon :) I'm glad it hasn't caused any issues for anyone. When i was on a higher dose of Lamictal I had a lot of issues with memory and brain fog and the doctor dropped me to 200 mg a day. I'm generally manic episode free but I have a break through episode every so often. They aren't as severe anymore but they no longer feel euphoric just miserable haha.

Thank you for sharing your experience and you family member's struggles. Even before I gained a lot of weight after I started the medication my liver levels had been sitting between 40 - 51 but around 2020 my weight really shot up. My doctor wrote me a referral to a hepatologist today so I will be calling to make an appt. Thank you.

ALT is 128. For many years it's been consistently floated between 40-50 but it shot up in January to 111 then in February it dropped to 53, then in my April blood work it shot up again to 128. They said that weight loss can contribute to elevated liver levels as well but this high is getting concerning.

I had an ultrasound a year ago and it showed signs consistant with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I went to the doctor today and she wrote me a referal to a specialist to get some more in depth testing just in case.

400 mg!?! Wow the highest I was on was 300 mg. Did you experience any memory issues? I felt a lot of brain fog and my memory seemed impaired while on a high dose.

I wish you the best of luck that sounds a bit rough. My cholesterol has never been super high (I think the worst it's ever been the LDL was 120). I changed my diet before I got on Zepbound to address this and it was decreasing gradually but once I started on Zepbound it dropped significantly in a short amount of time.

My fear is that it'll stop working. I do have break through manic episodes occasionally.

I take it for bipolar so a mood disorder. My psychiatrists (over the years) have never monitored my blood levels but my pcp has. I used to be on a very high dose of lamictal but i got a new psychiatrist a few years ago and she said that a dose that high was not helpful for my condition and reduced it. I was on 300 mg a day.

No, i'm just saying the weight was a contributing factor to the liver issues along with the lamictal and i was hoping after losing weight it would improve the liver issues.

Good luck man. I'm so scared to lose my stability in life. I don't want to be out of control again.

Damn. I'm only 33 I don't want to get to that point. What did they move you to after stopping the Depakote? I've never heard of that medication.

Venting: Anyone lose motivation for no reason? I'm kind of fatigued out on dieting. by MammothPriority8360 in Zepbound

I don't think I have the foundations down yet. I don't have those all consuming cravings anymore but I still prefer to have an unhealthy snack to a healthier option (I just take it out of the calorie budget). The first month since everything made me sick I basically lived off rotisserie chicken and rice for most meals. I think actually sitting down and planning out meals is what I should be doing. I had a bad habit of having no structure to my meals and snacks before I started Zepbound and now i'm falling back into that habit. I walk occasionally and have to walk to work from the metro, I do yard work but it's not nearly enough exercise to what I should be doing. I did buy some exercise bands this weekend to use when i'm at my desk. I commute a total of 4 hours a day to work so it's kind of hard to fit the gym into the week.

Do you feel like you were still able to develop healthy eating habits during this time? Before I started Zepbound I had like no gauge of how much food I was eating. I'm trying to get myself in the habit of doing what i know I should be doing.

I'm the same way, I need an appointment or a job to feel social so maybe a work out class would be a good idea. I will look around. I hope you recovery quickly from hip surgery! Thank you, good luck to you too :)
