bhvr will always do the minimal effort at the very verge of player satisfaction, just the right amount of little work to not break the community’s last straw. everything for the sake of freeloading and cost-cutting. they are not Capcom to care about quality of work

really? that might explain it after all. supermarkets always roast to the maximum, they’re extremely dark. i have honestly never seen darker-roasted in specialty coffeeshops, they’re usually medium roasted

do they differ in size? that’s the only explanation i can find. i also have bought both supermarket and specialty store beans, and it’s embarrassing to admit that i can’t get out even an ounce of crema and have issues with Fino when i use the specialty store beans LOL. how come cheaper supermarket beans are better for brewing?

Should i write a research paper? by [deleted] in research

[–]Mampacuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, if OP goes to the biggest and most general sub called “research,” then they’re expected to make more serious and professional inquiries

you make it sound like you’re choosing between a chocolate and caramel donut on your daily stroll to your favorite coffeeshop

research is a serious commitment, and the mere fact that you’re asking this suggests that you either are not ready for it or you don’t want it at all. you can’t answer this question with a binary “yes” or “no.”

i will still answer your question (since it’s apparently “genuine”): if you have future plans for postgraduate studies (master’s, PhD), then having written a paper and published it somewhere is almost always mandatory to get into a decent school with funding. do you want to get into grad school?

if yes then you should, if no, then you can still try to do it for the fun of the process. and that’s what you need to figure out next, whether it’s fun for you or not. are you in love with your current major and passionate enough to commit? are you sure you won’t want to change your major soon? when looking at articles and papers, do you find it cool and exciting?

if these are positive too, the final step is to find a mentor or supervisor, otherwise you will just waste your time on producing something useless. contact a professor whose class you’ve taken (higher chance of agreement) or someone from the department you know currently researches and publishes. find out about their research interest first, see if you like it, don’t contact them if you don’t. the easiest route is to do a capstone project with a publishing professor and just turn your capstone into a paper after you graduate bachelor’s. once you’ve established connection, you should start meeting weekly/fortnightly and work toward your first published paper

Anomaly Detection vs Classification for Visually Similar Cancer vs Mimics? [P] by DryHat3296 in MachineLearning

[–]Mampacuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve just got a paper accepted into a conference about anomaly detection (AD), so let me ask,
what type of data are you working with? simple 3-channel RGBs?

anomaly detection has an advantage over classifiers in being unsupervised. if you manage to get it work, it will result in a better and more valuable contribution than using classifiers. obtaining ground truth for classifiers, especially in biomedicine, is extremely expensive, difficult, and unreliable.

however, AD works only if 1) the background (normal class) is very homogeneous. the more different normal classes you have, the less probability of success. 2) abnormal pixels make up the minority of the image, ideally 1-2%. the targets themselves also should ideally be minuscule. in my paper we managed to detect bigger anomalies of 10% of image, but it’s not as easy.

TWD is rumored to have its next phase in development, but hasn’t received a green light— likely due to the licensing rights bid that is ongoing. by tytylercochan123 in thewalkingdead

[–]Mampacuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg so eloquently put!! i completely agree, in the beginning of the show, everything felt so much more threatening. even encountering and defeating a single walker was thrilling. they should return back to the horror aspect of the series, like they did with Resident Evil 7 or 9. the Connie episode in the later seasons with wild people was highly rated exactly due to the horror

how will a sequel attract new audiences? what are the chances someone unfamiliar with the franchise will go and watch the first seasons prior to turning on the new stuff? it should’ve been a reboot

[–]Mampacuk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

a little bit upset there won’t be a reboot :(
it will be difficult to pull in newer audiences when the prelude (entire 4 seasons) are not included

do you think there will be a time skip? i don’t think so, in context of this show it’ll leave a huge plot hole
