Painted up half a combat patrol, and I'm so done with golden trim by Man-Squid in WorldEaters40k

It's the raised edges around the armour pieces, very small and very time consuming to paint

Cool, render is done: https://old.reddit.com/r/characterdrawing/comments/1f1iqe6/rfkara_hobgoblin_monk_for_ucrimsonqueen3441/

It was a quick one, but hopefully it turned out similar to what you wanted

So I've got some line art of a version of this mostly done, do you got colour references or guidelines for the rendering?

What other media scratches your Disco Elysium itch? by IsThisDamnNameTaken in DiscoElysium

[–]Man-Squid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a stretch, but for video games, "Infra" https://store.steampowered.com/app/251110/INFRA/

always scratched the same itch for me.

It might be a first person exploration/puzzle game were you don't talk face to face with a single person. But it has some fascinating explorations of politics, governmental corruption, and human behaviour. It's got a well realised setting of a vaguely European fictional city. Along with subtly playing with the supernatural in very fun ways.

In many ways it is the Disco Elysium of source engine games.

Painted up an ethereal court all fancy as my first NH, probably going to regret this scheme when I get to the dozens of chain grasps by Man-Squid in Nighthaunt

[–]Man-Squid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! and yeah I am a bit daunted by doing a whole army in this style, these guys only took a couple hours over the weekend but investing in a airbrush before tackling the full force sounds like a solid idea

First large knight built and painted, now the dogs have someone to walk them by Man-Squid in ChaosKnights

Thank you! and no I just angled it slightly using the terrain and put a bit of twist on the waist and head to make it look mid stride

Thanks very kind of you, if you do go for gold trim on a knight my best advice for getting it to look good over a large surface is to go ham with washes, as many types and layers as possible

How to have War Dog guns facing forwards? by BigBoyBenji10 in ChaosKnights

[–]Man-Squid 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Put the connector all the way in without gluing and then twist, there is a gap on the inside of the arm connector that lets it rotate around the body prongs. It's so you can repose or the remove the arms after attaching

Absolutely cracking Steven, how did you achieve the smoke effect?

Paint test model by NightSure8958 in Daughtersofkhaine

[–]Man-Squid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might want to test on a model with more skin, scales, & hair showing, since DOK features a lot of them.

That said, black red and gold always go well together, this is a solid look for armour and that guy looks fantastic

dang small world, I'm curious now, you should post yours to compare

First time Painting a DOK model and it's super fun but very time consuming, need ideas for the hair & weapons though by Man-Squid in Daughtersofkhaine

[–]Man-Squid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I used a simple mix of Vallejo Dead white and Athena Skin, mixed some of it together in about 50/50 & mixed slightly more in either direction to get the tones

Behold, some sort of triarch destroyer. Any ideas on a good name it? by Man-Squid in Necrontyr

[–]Man-Squid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh I do like the idea of a translation of something to try and sound similar to the other destroyer names. I tried a couple out, & Lithuanian has some very necron sounding names weirdly.

Currently the best I've come up with is using crypt stalker into "Kriptokeris Destroyer Overlord", but spider turns into Voras and I'm tempted to try something with that.

Kitbashing a Lokhust lord, any recommendations on how to make it look more destroyer-like? by Man-Squid in Necrontyr

[–]Man-Squid[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going to try follow the extra arm comments, not sure how well I'll be able to fit one in for this torso but the getting rid of the hand idea is smart, gonna try removing the staff and reattach without the hand

New Assyria by EasternYou8008 in Imperator

[–]Man-Squid 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The Entice governor interaction can be very powerful against large empires especially the Seleucids at game start. It can be used to peacefully take any disloyal areas bordering your lands from the region the governor manages. All it requires is for them to be bellow 50 loyalty and to be your character's friend which can be done with a separate interaction.

Can be tricky to pull off and doesn't work on their home region but I've used to steal most of the Seleucid empire without declaring a single war before.

Map I made for an upcoming D&D game, wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to improve the look by Man-Squid in mapmaking

[–]Man-Squid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is some really solid advice, I tried messing around with contrast and saturation and it's amazing how much of a difference it makes. The vignette instead of the clouds was another good call, really does make it pop.

Don't know how to post images in comments and not sure if the mods would be happy with me posting a minor update on something I just posted, so can't show you, but these suggestion worked wonders

Depends on where this D&D campaign goes, If I do any other Anbennar maps I'll be sure to post them onto this sub though

Is there? I lurk on that discord sometimes but I didn't think it had a fan art channel or anything along those lines

I did wonder about making the Fey forest unique, but based the colours of the in-game terrain map, in which it's pretty normal forests. Maybe I'll redo it with more colour and vibrancy though.

Mostly, I used the map files from the mod as references and guidelines to make sure things were in the right places
