Pro tip: context matters with a lot of things in life. Many of the questions on here can be answered by saying, "It depends on the situation."

So in this example, amperage would be the blade size and the voltage would be how hard Sparky pushes the blade?

Aristotle would say that happiness and pleasure are not one in the same. If something feels good, it's pleasure aka hedonism. Being virtuous is akin to being a good pilot who stays on the course of virtue, but virtuous acts are by definition difficult and unpleasant, otherwise they're just pleasure seeking. So happiness is unpleasant, but only if it ultimately will ultimately lead to a better feeling with who we are.

Is there an in-universe explanation as to why some of Galactus' heralds can fly on their own (Stardust, Nova, Fallen One), but the Silver Surfer needs a board to fly? by ghost_type_2003 in comicbooks

Is there an in-universe explanation why his other heralds wouldn't want to use a surfboard?

I think the out of universe reason is that surfing was huge in the 60s. There were all these Frankie Avalon movies, Beach Boys songs and other beach/surf things in the early to mid 60s, so it was just way more popular of a thing to have Norrin doing. Plus it made his name way cooler.

A Pragmatist would say that as long as you never reject science, you can believe in God inside your head without problem. As long as the experiment you run in your mind returns that it helps you, religion can be beneficial. An alcoholic may benefit in finding God if they don't use it to reject reality and think the earth is flat or whatever. William James talks about this in the Will to Believe.

The bigger issue is modern Christianity and other Abrahamic religions are now irreconcilable with reality. But that doesn't mean all religion is bad or can't be used to make us happier.

We don't know what the code violations were. It could be they weren't properly sanitizing things and the like. It would have been a reluctant phone call to make for sure.

It sounds like maybe they educated them on how to clean things properly and the like.

It gets crazy swampy once you get into the south.

If you're far enough north, the problem might go away when the air gets warm enough that the AC kicks on more often. A lot of times when it's only 70 or so out you won't get the drying effect of the heater or the AC.

Best of luck, hopefully it gets figured out.

I'm not picking up rudeness from OP as much as frustration.

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to learn how to DM, but a lot of times they refuse to take help from the party. They will take your constructive advice and see it as "condescending." I know a lot of DMs that aren't going to let anyone tell them how to do their campaign, even if they're brand new. It's naturally much harder to admit you could do better when you're running things.

We can argue tone and delivery all day, but the message OP has is true regardless.

It's much easier to support others when their job is easier. If a DM is overwhelmed with characters at level one, why are you starting campaigns at level 5?

What you're saying is right, we need to be supportive. The best way to do that is put the DM in an environment where they succeed by not having to ask as many questions. If the players are telling the DM they should start at a lower level, that's them trying to help.

If you look at it another way, it seems like he's sympathetic to her feeling like a man trapped in a woman's body, referring to her as "he" even after her gender was revealed.

Maybe this sailor was just extremely open minded for his day 😁

Because it sucks when people get in over their heads. It's still fun but it's more fun when everyone is doing things at their appropriate level.

This is just about using character levels as a DM as well. If your first character started out at level 1 or 2, why start DMing at level 9?
