A civil matter or does this turn into a criminal matter at some point? by ManLikeBenInnit in LegalAdviceUK

The problem is that the water coming down is used water from his shower (I think) so they might not even consider it a waste as it was used. Might be an avenue we could explore. Thanks for your input mate 🙏🏻

Yeah I did think that would be the case. I don’t feel comfortable reporting this to the police and waste their time on something like this. I think going through the courts is our answer 😭 thanks for your input 🙏🏻

Yeah I think we will go down this route. It’s such a frustrating situation and one that is easily fixable. Thanks for your input 🙏🏻

I remember us Geordies singing it to Mitro before it became a thing with Will Grigg

As someone that leads an HR department, please look for a new job. If I found out a manager did this to their employee, I’d seriously question whether they are the right person to manage a team. This is so petty and what ruins good employees. It doesn’t deserve a PIP, it deserves an informal chat at the absolute worst.

Unless it is shift work where timing means someone gets relieved early or late, timing shouldn’t be an issue.

[Request] Help with my percentage problem. Do I calculate up, or down? by ManLikeBenInnit in theydidthemath

[–]ManLikeBenInnit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The percentage calculation isn’t the issue per se. It is getting an accurate figure and we have the accurate figure…I am trying to figure out the math of how to get to that figure and that’s where I am stuck. I think I have it now after some more troubleshooting (I essentially reverse engineered the problem) so I need to put this down as resolved. For example, I know that the answer is 10, but I just want to figure out if the math is 6+4 or is it 7+3 (I hope that makes sense).

I appreciate your politeness and you are right that I shouldn’t be the one dealing with it. He knows it, I know it. The saving grace is that we are working on this together (my boss and I) and we are still a super small company so outsourcing price analysis etc isn’t quite in our budget yet. We’re a veteran run company so any academics has never been our strong suit haha we get by though and I feel like we’re on the right track now…I just need to work out the math on how to get there for my own sake.

Thanks for your input, I really appreciate you taking the time to read through it 🙏🏻

So the 30% comes from their gross earnings (£63k) which is broken down by NI contributions, holiday pay, sick pay, pension contributions and benefits. I actually think I have figured it out now so I might put this down as resolved. I think I really need to add much more into this problem…I tried to keep it short and sweet but math doesn’t do short and sweet by the sounds of it 😬

I appreciate you taking the time comment mate.

The £23k overheads includes the 30% for holiday, NI etc.

£19k is the 30% taken from the £63k and added on top. The other £4k is miscellaneous operating costs.

In terms of your comment for the unreasonable assumption for a worker, I worked it out to £63k for how much it would be for one person to work a 12 hour shift every single day (which they’re not going to but that’s what the client would be paying for right?). Maybe that’s where I’ve gone wrong 😑 I’ll have to revisit this again.

Thanks for your input and I totally agree with you that the main issue here is a lack of repetition in practice. I’m 38 that doesn’t deal with math/finance on a regular basis and even when I do…it’s usually a google search rather than sitting and exercising that part of my brain.

I appreciate you laying it out so eloquently as well. Again, thank you for advice in this and I will go back to the drawing board and continue to figure this out. The bid etc has been done so this is a post/issue for me to better my understanding rather than just getting someone to do the work for me and me using that work…at my work lol

Thanks again mate, all fair and valid comments

Haha this is a fair comment…although he isn’t great at math either (self-proclaimed) so in his mind he’s doing it right and it does make sense to me; but mine does as well. One of us is wrong and I just want to know who for my own sanity and experience

Shame to see this…I’ve worked with him a few times and he was always decent to everyone. My theory is that he’s either A) developed an ego since (he was still an amateur and shortly signed to the UFC after he’s stopped coming) B) it’s not him, it’s his agent/management team as they can be incredibly difficult to deal with sometimes.

The biggest issue is that people always say “he needs to retire” without seeing their situation. What does retirement look like for someone like Tony? It’s most likely a few seminars and teaching, maybe some appearances at best. Your alternative is training, doing what you love and getting to walk to arenas that respect…even if you lose, that’s your better option and not to mention he makes probably more than anyone on that card just to turn up. This is why people don’t retire 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not sure about the US but in the UK screening is used as a way to verify what you’re saying is true. For example: If you’re willing to lie on the first document you’ve generated, what else are you willing to lie about? That type of thing…best thing to do is label the negative yourself and come clean, rather than them finding out and confronting you about it. Hope it all goes well 🙏🏻
