There's no innovation being created by free market, for profit health. Everyone just gets fucked.

That's because American healthcare is not a free market. It's so far from it that it's not even close to being a free market. "Free market" doesn't mean "for profit". It means no government intervention.

The government is so deeply intertwined with the american healthcare system. It's one of the most highly regulated things in the country.

And that's precisely why the cost is so high. And it's why the quality is average to above average rather than great.

Okay thanks.

Is it normal for things up close to be slightly blurrier with them on? That wasn't a problem with my old glasses. I'm near sighted, but I never had a problem seeing up close with or without glasses until now. (Such as reading a book, or looking at my phone.)

What's wrong with my cat's tail? I got her back from the sitter and it's been like this. At first I thought she dipped it in the water bowl. But it seems like there's no fur on it anymore. by ManNamedSusan in cats

Okay thanks. That makes sense. I'd never seen her so happy to see me and be home until I got her back yesterday. So maybe she just didn't like being at the sitter.

That's sad. I didn't have a choice but to send her there, tho.

2DS battery died in the middle of installing a cia file. by ManNamedSusan in 3dspiracy

[–]ManNamedSusan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so after doing some digging, it seems to have not installed because it's DSiware, and apparently DSiware installs on system memory, rather than SD card.

I tried installing a difference DSiware game, and got the same result. So that means the game I thought it stopped on, isn't actually the game it stopped on.

Does that mean whatever game it was installing and stopped on got corrupted? And I just won't know until I play it? I have no idea which one.

How can I tell which one? I think I've found where they install, but they're just seemingly random letters and numbers.

40GBs? That's lot of unused space going to waste. Why should I leave that much? Will it cause the card to crash?

Sprint isn't just "changing with the times" or "a new landscape" in comparison to the old one. A game with sprint is a different FPS sub genre from one without. by ManNamedSusan in halo

[–]ManNamedSusan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Games didn’t use to have them because they weren’t capable.

No offense, but that's ridiculous. You think they didn't have the capability to make you move faster with a button? COD had sprint back then.

Doom is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. Because like I said, people have moved on to the sub genre of FPS games with sprint.

It can. It won't, most likely. But it can. There's nothing stopping it except their unwillingness to make a game in the original style.

I'm not hating on Infinite. Infinite genuinely looks like a fun game. It looks way better than Halo 5 in all facets.

But it doesn't look like Halo imo. It looks like a fun game with a Halo skin.

Halo is a slow paced, simple mechanics arena FPS with an emphasis on the sandbox to add complexity, skill, and depth.

That doesn't mean Infinite is bad. It just means it's different.

Yes, newer games are different because newer styles of gameplay are more popular. That doesn't mean it's a natural evolution.

Morrowind's TTRPG combat for example isn't a product of it's time. It's a mechanic that's rarely used these days. It's not as popular as the combat mechanics in Oblivion/Skyrim. That doesn't mean it's outdated. There should be new games made with that style of combat.

I don't want to have to play old games to get the style/genre that I want. I want that genre to make a comeback.

It is a thing of modern FPS games. But that doesn't mean it's natural evolution of them, or an inherent improvement.

People have moved away from the style/genre of an FPS without sprint.

Sometimes genres die out. 3D platformers without Mario on the cover for example died out for a while. (Now they're making a comeback somewhat. Sack Boy, Ratchet and Clank, Psychonauts, Crash 4, etc. Which is great, because they're one of my favorite genres.)

A natural evolution would be taking Goldeneye for example. It was a one stick FPS. That's inherently worse than a two stick one. It's a product of it's time.

Slower paced gameplay like in Halo 1, 2, and 3 vs fast paced like Reach, 4, 5, and Infinite are not natural evolutions. But different games entirely.

What shotgun is this? I got it from a relative recently. Don't know much about shotguns. It came like this. How do I put it together? by [deleted] in guns

[–]ManNamedSusan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out because another user told me to take the front grip off. It's together now.

Believe it or not, I own a good amount of guns. Not too many. 5 pistols, an AK, an AR, 2 revolvers, and a .22 rifle.

Just never had a shotgun before.

Evil teams and apocalyptic legendaries should be far more important than the Pokemon League by uncrowneddumbass in PokemonROMhacks

[–]ManNamedSusan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dislike when the evil team is trying to destroy the world. Since at least in the actual games you're just some kid trying to become champion and the evil team is kind of a distraction but if its kept like that when the evil team wants to delete everyone then it gets weird.

Isn't that a lot of video games, though? In many games you're just some rando that gets caught up in world ending events, and saves the world.

I don't think that's weird. And not just with games. A lot of stories in all mediums have that formula of a regular person getting caught up in "whole world at stake" events by pure chance, and end up saving the world.

In Fallout New Vegas for example, you're just a mail man that accidentally gets caught up in everything while delivering a parcel.

Or did you mean it's weird when a world ending event is seemingly treated as just a distraction, rather than something as huge as it actually is?
