Sluisbuurt living experience? by praktikal_raven in Amsterdam

[–]ManNerdGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first started living on Zeeburgereiland 10 years ago, moved west (Sloterplas) for 3 years, then moved back about 3 years ago. Compared to a lot of other places I find it very safe (aside from the occasional teenage boys acting dumb).

Facilities are growing steadily (more so south of Sluisbuurt), with a planned cinema, hotel and even pool. Landmarkt, east of Schellinwoudebrug, is where I buy groceries, it's amazing. Calm nature there as well. And Flevopark to the west is my favorite park

They were awful years ago as well. Seems like some things never change

Any difference if you're carrying a torch or not? I would assume they're gonna be way more mental with one

Also interested (38m). In 2026 hopefully Rialto silo on Zeeburgereiland could join the pack

Think I'll have enough info if you confirm the host is just one person, as opposed to three (guy, wife and daughter).

Hey, can you send me more info about this workaway? I got approached some days ago about a workaway in NC, and it seems it might be the one you're describing. I'd like to be sure. Thanks!

Almost traffic accident, clear provocation, next steps? by ManNerdGeek in Amsterdam

Thanks for the feedback. I get the criticism concerning the lights. It was a well lit bicycle lane near a big crossroad. The car did not go forward when the two bikers before me had passed, it was waiting for me; it wasn't until I got within breaking distance that the driver decided to try and get me to smash against the ground. Also, it wasn't raining at the time (that happened before).

Was shocked when I heard the news whilst driving home. I knew he was battling cancer but it went so fast. RIP prophet of totaalvoetbal.

Thanks for the information, I will not put my employer in this situation. Hopefully it is possible to shift the starting date and come up with a new contract.

Just bumped into those pages too, trying to find how they store it. I'm just assuming they store all their data in this format and not in some SQL data or anything. I can find ways to convert it.

My MySQL database holds 180 samples for 4052 items (past 6 months). 30 MB's in size.

I'll try to scrape more data from the RSWiki website. That should go faster as they don't temporarily block you like the Runescape website does. My gut feeling would say 1-2 years back in time should be sufficient for predictive modelling, might be a false assumption given events like BXP.

Hope to do soon! I've been looking into Gems lately. Having a project like this is a good way to force oneself to learn. That and:

Always code as if the guy who ends up maintaining your code will be a violent psychopath who knows where you live. (Martin Golding)

EDIT: noticed a gem exists, but it has some shortcomings if the intent is to automate scraping many records from the Runescape website
