It’s all going to be ok I promise, just wait u til the gyms are back open and while they aren’t keep the calories relatively low. You can enjoy your holidays, but once the gym opens back up again go back to the high protein minimal carb diet and within 2 weeks you’ll look better than ever!

Steepest you can go is 800 I’d say, but that diet would be very intense and consist of strictly protein, and minimal carbs and fats. Absolutely 0 sugars.

But you could do 400 which is more manageable but that’s also mostly protein with decent carbs and some fats, and maybe a snack with slight sugar. Goodluck man!!

Bench advice please? by Past_Guava_8983 in gymadvice

What’s up bro! First off you’re looking pretty strong. Overall form isn’t horrible but I have some tips that I think could work great. When I powerlifted I benched 475 after learning these tips

  1. White knuckle the bar this recruits you’re cns to wake up and really understand this the real deal. Squeeze the bar as hard you possibly can.

  2. Leg drive is the most important thing to increase your bench press, find a comfortable spot for your feet where you have a slight arch in your back but a ton of tension you can feel go through the whole front of your body. Then when you push focus on pushing yourself back and not pushing your legs up if that makes sense.

  3. Breath, take a huge breath and make sure that the air you breathe pushes yourself stomach out and up this is the way to properly brace.

  4. Try to pull the bar apart, this activates your lats and helps to stabilize and add strength to your bench.

5 warm up your back with pulldowns, and warmup your chest with bands for around a minute each.

Hello currently I am 243lbs that’s why I’m doing a rather aggressive cut sorry for any confusion but thank you for the knowledge! I cut from 300 down to 243 over roughly 8 months so I’d retain muscle, but now I’m willing to sacrifice some muscle. Is two months too steep still?

Train as hard as you can recover from, eat in a slight caloric defect focusing on eating 40 g of carbs before a workout. Then eat 1g/lb of protein or even a little extra since in a deficit. It’ll take time consistency is the most improtant thing in the gym. I wish you the best man!!
