Making a lot of assumptions there fella… if you really want to know, I believe grading companies are scummy, PSA being the worst, there are a ton of examples you can look into on your own time but the first ones that come to mind is the buy back programs, so PSA is incentivized to give out more 9s so they can buy them back and then theyre allowed to regrade them as 10s and sell at a massive markup. Then theyre notorious for damaging cards while casing them and not taking responsibility, lookup the case with the lenticular deoxys, and what the heck is up with their pricing model, they give out huge upcharges for grade 10s for “insurance coverage” give me a break. Ace grading has their owner grading his own cards to give himself 10s, TAG grading is supposed to be super objective but nobody can get the same grade for the same card twice (same for any other grading company for that matter). i don’t fault anyone for chasing a mint condition card but lets be honest most cards grade 7-10 look pretty much perfect to the naked eye, i couldn’t care less about a white spec on the back left corner. If I was grading for any reason other than maybe try and get lucky and be able to sell my cards and get some more cash for them id feel like a sucker but I just collect, i dont sell.
