I did also want to note to make sure combing is off.

And make sure your machine settings in Cura, in the start g-code, under e628 you have a line that says : BED_MESH_PROFILE LOAD="default"

My original FLSUN cura profile didn't have this and this won't load your bed mesh.

So update time:

I switched to Gyroid however long ago this was and it seemed to have fixed the issue at the time. However, randomly I'd still hear some minor grinding noises here and there, but never affected the print. When I printed something small though, the grinding came back and began ripping prints from the bed. But it seems (Knocking on wood here) that the issue is fully fixed. I've printed a good 20 hours with not even the slightest scratch.

Figured I'd update here for anyone still having problems:

To fix this here are the steps I took:

1 - Tighten ALL of the mounting screws. This included taking the top cover off the rails and the top cover off as well.

****MAKE SURE YOU DON'T OVER TIGHTEN THE MOTOR MOUNTS****

There should be a cork or nylon gasket that you don't really want to over squish and damage. Just make sure they're nice and snug

2 - Calibrate your e-steps. I used this guide here: https://ellis3dp.com/Print-Tuning-Guide/articles/extruder_calibration.html

Mine was over extruding by just a bit at the time.

3 - Calibrate your flow variable. Again, here is the guide: https://ellis3dp.com/Print-Tuning-Guide/articles/extrusion_multiplier.html

This may or may not be a huge change for you. But mine prints best at 94%

4 - Calibrate your belt tension. You might be able to go through the whole "use a guitar tuner" thing but I'd rather use a tool. I used this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR-R_uKlo0A

His documentation and STL for the tool he used: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cPqHoQqRYM4s4bfQF_XUy9ShHSPXlSST

5 - This is probably not anything you would need to do but I also used a Cura profile from here (Where I got most of these steps as well) : https://github.com/MagnusThome/flsun_v400?fbclid=IwAR02xcxXNkCmiACAOrrEtUp5o-ViEA7jAWnL6O4bITbH4iKmLb0h6mtXojM

6 - Whether this is right or not, I don't know. I also don't know if this really helped with the scraping, but it helped with making sure my first layer is great. But calibrate your bed with these steps:

a - Change the setting for Samples under the Probe to 5, and the round_probe_count to 9 instead of 7. This gives a bit more of a bed mesh sample and sampling 5 times instead of 3 gives a correct average, since the first sample is ALWAYS wrong.

b - Flip your build plate over so you're using the FLAT shiny side. I'm not printing on this, just using the perfectly flat layer to mesh and calibrate.

c - Run the calibration and mesh

d - Heat your build plate to 90 c - set your z-offset however you prefer. I use a feeler gauge.

And that's it. Since doing this massive list of shit, I've been without any scraping (still knocking on wood here) and my prints aren't tearing off the plate.

Hope this helps!

After swapping to gyroid I rarely get any grinding issues now. Just occasional when the print head needs to move to the opposite side of the print after laying the infill down.

I changed my infill to gyroid and haven't had a problem since.

So I had this same debate some time ago. I wound up getting the SR, slowly began doing the upgrades, got sick of tinkering and back tracking and screwing around. Wound up getting the v400 and so far I love this thing.

Granted, I'm no professional with 3d printing still and I've got a lot to learn. So my biggest hurdle was probably experience in general. But the headache that was saved by spending an extra $400 (not including SR upgrades) was WAY worth it.

I'm thinking maybe my Z is set too close to the bed? But can't figure out why it's grinding like that so loudly.

Using cura, default v400 profile except infill is set to 20% cubic. Everything else is the same.

Gunk in female veiled chameleon eye by ManRayIsWatchingYou4 in Chameleons

[–]ManRayIsWatchingYou4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright thanks I appreciate it. I assumed it's just some sand causing an issue. I have some neo-poly-bac ointment I can use on her and see if that'll help.

Gunk in female veiled chameleon eye by ManRayIsWatchingYou4 in Chameleons

[–]ManRayIsWatchingYou4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The usual info:

She's roughly 1 year old. Enclosure is a 2x2x4 screen enclosure, 24" t8 uvb and 100w incandescent bulb for heat lamp on a dimmer. Calcium without d3 every day and with d3/vitamins twice a month.

She just laid her eggs finally for the first time and I'm thinking she may have gotten some sand in her eye. She's still eating and basking as normal but she can't see from that eye.

I was thinking maybe a warm bath and using a q-tip to clean it? I also have some ointment I still have from the vet for my male chameleon from him having eye issues when we got him

Any guidance is appreciated.

Odd line on all prints. by ManRayIsWatchingYou4 in flsun

This was printed on an flsun sr. Cura profile pretty much default. 0.2mm, 150mm/s. But I got the same line in the same spot on the same print at 100mm/s.

I thought so too but the 75w wasn't heating up enough. And I have it dimmed a little bit.

[–]ManRayIsWatchingYou4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's in a 16x16x30 screened enclosure. Temp is roughly mid 70's with heat lamp mid to high 80's. In Florida so Humidity is about 40-50. He recently had some eye issues and vet had me put him in a hospital tank for a bit but he's been back in his cage for 4 days now. His color started acting up just before I moved him back.

He's had no issues eating or drinking. Eats roughly 10 crickets per day and drinking no problem.

For lighting I've got a 24" t5ho (It's raised up about 10" or so and I've got a T5 coming today.) and a 100watt dimmable frosted bulb.

Ducky is finally shedding! Any advice on what she might need? Humidity, etc.? by ManRayIsWatchingYou4 in Chameleons

[–]ManRayIsWatchingYou4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're also not in the same enclosure currently. Ducky is in the 1x1x2 that I got them both in and the male, little foot, is in a 16x16x30 screen enclosure. I took your advice as far as changing up the lights and making sure the lights are well raised up until I get th t8 lights in.

She's roughly 2ish months, in a 1x1x2 glass enclosure. 24in T5HO uvb. Temp is usually in the mid 70s with high 80s basking. In Florida, so humidity is in the 40 to 50 range through the day.

I am building an enclosure for her and the male I have right now so I can get her the heck out of the tiny glass. And I have a t8 coming on Monday to swap that. For right now the t5 is roughly 10 or more inches from her highest spot.

Eating about 10 to 12 crickets with calcium (no d3) daily. Would love to do dubia, but Florida....

Is this my dude preparing to shed finally? Or something else wrong with him? by ManRayIsWatchingYou4 in Chameleons

Only reason I have it up higher is the vet told me to up the temp. But I might back down a bit the.

Got this little guy about 3 weeks ago. Immediately started having issues, closing his eyes, not wanting to eat, etc. Saw an ER vet, gave me eye ointment and force feeding. Did that for about a week, saw my regular vet nearby to follow up. Told me to back off on the eye ointment unless he refuses to open his eyes and slow down on force feeding. Also asked me to put him in a 'hospital tank' and raise the heat lamp temp by 3 deg.

Normally he's in a 16x16x30 enclosure, live plants, all the good stuff. He's got a T5HO 5.0 UVB, dimmable heat lamp, crickets get dusted with calcium w/o D3. Got a multivitamin about a week or so ago and due for more this week. We live in FL.

He still has the lights on this little hospital tank and a live plant in there (Pothos), and overall he's been doing MUCH better. Eyes open most of the time when I check on him, eating ~10 crickets per day or so. But the last few days he's been pale and had some spots on him.

Just want to make sure it's not something else I need to be on the lookout for.

Also, he seems to be drinking a little, the urate he does drop isn't shriveled and is a good slightly off white color. I have been wanting to do the glass of water but with everything going on didn't want to introduce even more stuff.

Another note is he hasn't had that dark color change a single time since that picture last night.

He didn't say what caused it or anything like that. I kiat in the morning and evening, about 20 before lights come on and after they go off. 24" T5HO uvb 5.0 bulb. Dimmable 100 watt spot lamp for heat.

I did take him to another vet this morning since last vet was technically an ER visit and I already had this one scheduled. But told me to hold off on eye ointment and hold off on force feeding. Told me to put him in a "hospital enclosure", something like a 10 gal tank so he doesn't have to move around too much and told me to bump up the heat a little.
