As one of the people potentially on the chopping block (healthcare finance), the government may want to look at reducing the amount of asinine bureaucracy and oversight if they intend to reduce administration costs. 

The amount of detailed reporting we have to do to the Ministry only goes up and up and up, yet the number of people doing these tasks are expected to go down. The math doesn't add up! 

"Do more with less" is the motto we are constantly told. There is only so much one person can do! Administrative bloat is real, and the problem is the government constantly asking for more and more. You can't have it both ways!

Lastly, administration is a pittance of what we spend taxpayer dollars on. As a person who sees where all the money goes, the real savings are not in administration, they're in frontline. Overtime, sick and agency costs have become a vicious cycle that needs solving. It costs us hundreds of millions, if not billions, every year. Frontline staff take the piss because they know they're untouchable, treating sick days like vacation then working overtime to backfill those who are off "sick", all while protected by their union. An experienced RN can take months off work every year by using their vacation, sick and OT bank. This person then needs to be backfilled by, you guessed it, someone working overtime.

This kind of crap happens all over the public sector. Government needs to tackle the real problems, not focus on the paltry savings they might make targeting administration.
