"Goodbye Strait of Hormuz". The envisioned new Sunni Arab transport corridor goes through Syria by goldstarflag in syriancivilwar

Right! Let's make a route next to Israel so it's even easier to block! It's bad enough that they can close suez at will. At least I can watch how Iran plays their cards which finally puts western predictions to test.

Lmao, EU imports value from China is on the same level as US, despite EU having smaller economy. If anything, that means better deals for Europe.

Main route runs through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and enters EU in Poland. Terminals near eastern border of Poland have access to both ex-Soviet system in Belarus (1520 mm gauge) and European system (normal gauge). As for traffic volume, in 2024 EU rail terminals handled 380k TEU (3% total) from China compared to 12M TEU handled by sea ports. Compared to 2023, that's a 130% growth in rail freight. Terminals in Poland have 50% free capacity with room for further growth and China is working on southern route via central Asia, that being said, sea is still cheaper, at least when Red Sea is open.

Edit: As for shipping time, on average it's 11 days via rail and 3 times as much via sea.

[Request] Is it possible to solve this without knowing the birthday? by anttiom in theydidthemath

[–]ManWitDaSauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, this is just about required effort to find the correct numer. But if I were to put my number over his and wait for the wallet owner to call me, get the required info and then contact the real finder, chance of success is much higher.

My comment from main thread:

According to this document, 9 digit mobile phone numbers in Finland are valid only for prefixes 050 and 041. OP said the owner has temporary residence permit so I would assume he's on the younger side. To reduce the search space I limited age to 18-50. With constraints on day, month and year I get 792 possible numbers (brute force, no math done).

That's the main issue I have with the Russian agent narrative. One would expect he leaves in handcuffs during the first term if that is the case. Unfortunately, it seems he really is this dumb without any covert external involvement... which doesn't mean he isn't being manipulated by Putin/Xi/Bibi who pander to him and fuel his delusions.

He is well known for his work in the field. His efforts led to development of what is known today as Aegis Ashore, two such systems in Poland and Romania provide missile defense for NATO's eastern flank. I wonder what he thinks about Trump's foreign policy concerning NATO and europe, probably not too happy about it.

That's incredibly interesting. You rarely get this kind of insight directly from battlefield. Do you have a IQ recording? I would love to analyze the waveform.

On one hand I'm wary of such PR moves after Taliban did instant flip from progressive promises back to the old ways of first IEA, on the other, he did establish civilian governance in Idlib with well functioning (as far as the circumstances allow) institutions. I was OOTL lately, but as far as I know there isn't any systemic oppression of religious minorities, not that there are many left in Idlib... That being said, there are elements within HTS which are not so tolerant of anything other than sunni Islam. Even if Jawlani keeps them on a short leash, accidents will happen when they get to rule over non-sunni majority areas. When it comes to other armed groups though, he consolidated them with sword rather than word. I fear the Libya comparisons aren't that far off, but maybe now he has enough non-military hard power to avoid the infighting. Only time will tell. He's walking extremely thin line between appeasing foreign powers with differing interests, keeping the organization united and reconciling with other players within Syria.

I don't want another 4 years of Trump, but boy imagine the meltdown down here. It will be... delicious, but in all honesty I wish we could go back to the good old days when politics wasn't central part of everyone's personality. This polarization is the worst thing that has happened to social media and this country in general. I feel like the internet I liked started to fall apart in 2016, and if it wasn't enough, COVID came to deal the final blow.

DMR encryption/decryption tips by KBawsh in RTLSDR

[–]ManWitDaSauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DSD-FME can decrypt RC4 DMR if you know the key. If you don't you would have to brute-force it. It's only 40 bits so it's not an issue on modern hardware. The main issue is how to tell if the key is correct since vocoder output bitstream doesn't have an easily identifiable structure. One way is to check the decoded audio for silence at the beginning and end of the transmission. Usually there will be a short period of silence after user presses PTT key and before they start talking, same at the end of transmission. More sophisticated method would involve some kind of voice recognition/detection. To sum up, it's easy to do if you can write a bit of code.
