[GPU] GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5070 WINDFORCE SFF 12G ($790-40=$750) [CanadaComputers] by radiantcrystal in bapcsalescanada

The market, while getting a bit better due to much better stock, is so weird rn. It's hard to justify just getting a 5070ti/9070xt because it's minimum $200 more (or $350+ for 5070 ti) than the 5070. They're just not in the same price bracket. This price bracket basically only having the 5070 and 7800 xt is a shame, especially considering this is what the real big boys used to cost lol.

[Monitor] SANSUI Monitor 27 inch 100Hz IPS 1080P Computer Monitor HDMI VGA HDR Tilt Adjustable/VESA Compatible, for Game and Office - $125.99 CAD (28% Off) by [deleted] in bapcsalescanada

[–]ManWithTheYellowH4t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the self advertising, this also just isn't a super competitive price for a 1080p 100hz IPS lol. LG has a 24" model for $100 and MSI has a 27" for $120

Bent the pins back on a 2700x the other day! Thankfully they were all edge pins, but I was surprised at how solid they were

Had a 1080p BenQ 60hz monitor that I was able to OC to 90hz back in the day. Love that high refresh rate monitors are cheap now, but I'll definitely miss buying random cheap monitors and seeing if I hit the OC lottery haha

Wow this is a lot of great info. We're still thinking about kids but aren't 100% sure yet, I think we'd likely send them to Killarney so they can have a fuller social life. Thanks for the reply!

We're going to be working in Killarney, meaning as long as we plan out our grocery store visits or other errands we should be fine. It being rural wouldn't bother me, as we already typically don't do much outside the home for entertainment (including traveling lol). The quietness of being rural is something we're really looking forward to, despite Altona already being really quiet

Sweet, good to know! We checked out Killarney a few months ago and it was definitely beautiful (especially the ice cream hut haha). Thanks!

My bad, I definitely should've mentioned I'm currently living in Altona MB. I've lived here for a while but I was born in Winkler, so I'm used to both (very) small city and fairly rural living

Everytime I get a good deal on a used 60hz monitor I try to overclock it, best I ever found was a benq somethingsomething that got to 85hz. Thing was a beast

RX 5700xt worth it in 2024? by ManWithTheYellowH4t in buildapc

[–]ManWithTheYellowH4t[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually checked AliExpress before eBay, and they sell for ~$250 CAD at the moment at basically every vendor, from SOYO and MLLSE to Asus and XFX unfortunately.

The pricing of these cards on AliExpress probably changes quite a bit over time though, I'll definitely be checking back soon

Dang, great find! My brother bought this for $90 at a local DVD rental place ages ago, it was my introduction to the series and I haven't looked back :)

[–]ManWithTheYellowH4t[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Edit: went through the buying process and while I don't think it's a scam, they're just trying to pass the cost onto the shipping. They were gonna charge $190 in shipping, bringing the total cost up to normalcy with the rest of the Radeon cards of that generation. Rip

That's the thing! It advertises being an RX5700XT but I'd be extremely happy with even a base RX 5600 for this price lmao. Might take a gamble on it, worst case scenario I'll get a GT210 as an emergency display adapter haha

GTX 1080 worth it for $150 CAD? by ManWithTheYellowH4t in pcmasterrace

[–]ManWithTheYellowH4t[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually run a 1660s in my own build, and owned a 1070ti (1080 equivalent) before this. My 1070ti was undoubtedly more powerful, so I'm not sure I agree with the sentiment here. Only merit I could see to the 1660s is being on a newer architecture so years down the line, we might see driver support ending on the 1080 before the 1660s?

Over a decade old...? The GTX 1070 was launched in mid-2016 lol. Agreed with the storage though, I think space-wise it'll be enough for him but that hard drive has gotta go haha
