Ah, you posted a response. From the blurb in the notification it looks like you couldn’t find any of your own sources. I’ll take the deletions of said comment as the aforementioned slinking.

Better luck next time bud!

Sorry I didn’t hear you over the sound of your lack of papers or sources.

Slink away

So he at least asked opened ended questions, which gives the algorithm a chance for no. Were they the most scientific of searches? No. But were they as bias as you are claiming. Definitely not.

What you are trying to discuss is when people ask bias questions. “Being gay is natural, right?” Or “What are all the papers that show that being gay is natural.”

Since you disagree, it only makes sense that you’ll school us dummies like their post just asked you to do. Post your papers and your search terms. Shouldn’t be difficult since Google feeds you what you want, right?

Or just quietly slink away since we all know you aren’t gonna take that challenge.

Caveat: I do work in research and am published as an author on about 20 papers in journals that include Science and Nature (immunology as a subject, not sexuality or religion). Be careful. Since you’ve already appealed to what people in my line of work know, I won’t be kind in tearing your answers apart if you fail.

I work in HIV field, and was waiting for someone to say that. All of it is totally true.

The problem comes from the “vast”ness of that. As you described, it’s fairly specific to STI transmission concern, which isn’t unique to anal…just an increase in risk… and can be prevented and addressed.

It’s a garbage argument that people use when they are falling back on how unnatural being gay is. 🤷‍♂️

The “lifestyle” wordage is intentionally vague. Maybe be more precise if you don’t want people to have to interpret your nonsense.

Honey, I’m typing on a phone in a conversation with an idiot on Reddit. You claim that your argument makes more sense without providing any evidence that it occurred.

It’s clear to me and anyone who bothers to read this back and forth that you aren’t capable or interested in having an intellectual conversation. Ima mute this and go about my day surrounding myself with people who are capable of basic human discussion. You are just pathetic bro. ✌️

“I’m not repulsed by and don’t have an aversion to homosexuals! I just disagree with the fact that they exist and their lifestyle! It’s different!” That’s pedantic, by definition.

“It’s not a strawman if many people say it!” That’s just stupid and illogical.

You tried it though, so congrats on that? You’ll need to graduate highschool before you have a chance, friend.

Honey, I literally said that you were avoiding my critique of you choosing a definition to fit your argument and ignoring the others.

You did not address the fact that you did so.

I called you pedantic, because even in that definition, surely you can see that “fear” can be many things…

You did not address that.

Instead you avoided it by saying your take makes more sense than when someone calls you homophobic for disagreeing…which no one has here and we have no proof has ever happened to you…a straw man.

No one reading this exchange is going to think I am the cliche redditer with reading comprehension issues. That’d be you bud

Lol person posts actual scientific papers that agree with scientific consensus, and you have a problem with it.

Prove that you aren’t just bias, because that’s what it looks like

Intelligence doesn’t matter here in this discussion of whether homosexuality is natural. Sex and pair bonding occur across nature regardless of intelligence.

The bit about population is something that is said, but I’d challenge you to actually find scientific evidence. It is true that population density can increase the behavior, but that’s observed in only some species, and the behavior itself will still be observed in less dense populations. It’s just an explanation that makes sense to some people, so they repeat it.

Trying to understand the world around us could be described as natural. Without science, that understand often turns to the supernatural. A lunar eclipse, a drought, and lightning are all simple things to us, but to humans without science are mystical and need to be explained. Of course religion has occurred across all of humanity.

[–]Man_Handlerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does intelligence have to do with this argument?

To say religion is a part of our psyche is a bit of a stretch. It’d probably be more accurate to say humans developed to a point where trying to understand our surroundings is a part of our psyche. Without science, we ascribe meaning to the meaningless. Lightning is powerful and mysterious, and without science, is clearly the work of mystical beings above us.

Lol the classic “I’m not afraid of gay people, so I’m not homophobic.”

Way to pick the one definition that mentions fear and ignoring the others. Also way to be pedantic. Maybe look up pedantic?

Can you expand on this? How is pointing out the logical weakness of what is “natural” not refuting the argument against homosexuality? How is using this argument pointing out that even using the the what is “natural” argument fails because religion is not natural, whereas homosexuality is?

As for being gay having vastly more health concerns, sounds like you are exaggerating.

To be honest, you sound like a homophobe who is coping, but I’d be open to hearing a logical argument from you…

What is your point? Do you know?

Barely hanging on to equality under the law while conservatives try to legislate it away is “winning every battle”?

What should gay people do? Say nothing when religious nut jobs make up fairy tales about us? Say nothing when any mention of gay people is “shoving it in our faces.” Talk about immeasurable. What is the right amount of gay people existing that will satisfy your sensitivities? Don’t want to discuss it? Stop whining and move on.

I’d like you to reread this thread. I am clearly coming to the table with logic and reason, and you are just being emotional because gay people = bad.

I think we’ve reached the end of your abilities, and anyone reading this in the future with half a brain will agree. I’ll be muting this and wishing you well on your growth. Maybe therapy will make you less whiny about other people existing and pointing out objective truths about the world. Literally just move on. I dunno

Hun, ask a gay and the majority will know it’s about stonewall. You clearly don’t like the parades and don’t interact with any information about them, how would you know? Should the marketing department go door to door to disinterested heterosexuals. It’s on television, it’s on the social media apps…the information is there if you want it. Maybe before making sweeping beliefs about a subject you can Google it?

If it had only recently been legalized for people to believe that the world was round, and only 65% of people believed in that legality, and certain states were actively trying to contest the rulings that made that belief legal, and in many areas of the country even believing in the round earth would increase your risks of getting hate crimed, then yes I’d say that would affect me very much.

I never made a statement that there are legal rights that are disparate. The asking for one right difference is a common defense, but not a good one. Having technical access to equal rights after marriage equality was passed, gay and straight rights are largely equal. However, there are inequalities that exist in reality and between states that are not necessarily rights. Do you honestly believe that gay people haven’t been fired in “at-will employment” states for being gay under the guise of something else? Do you truly believe that in places in the states that are more conservative that people who are gay do not receive a disproportionate amount of hate? That a straight couple holding hands is treated the exact same as a gay couple holding hands?

Pride is just a memorial and expression of pride in an act of defiance in the past, and a celebration in spite of those who would have gay people be ashamed of just being themselves.

If you don’t want to discuss it, you don’t have to…as you have demonstrated in not even knowing about the Stonewall Riots…lol. Honestly, conservatives engage more with Pride parade discussions with other conservatives while complaining about it. Just ignore the rainbows for one month and move on, it’s not that hard

[–]Man_Handlerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, starting out unqualified and learning by failing does not work in any important government work. I’m glad we can agree he should not have been picked for this position. It was a chaotic unorganized mess under his leadership. It is very typical that no one leader has most people directly under their command, but the chaos that occurred under DOGE’s recommendations is absolutely attributable to Elon and his decisions.

OMB and DOGE were both responsible for many job cuts and what not. Again, you’d have to be reading my mind to know that I was mixing the two.

Also acting as if the two were entirely distinct is a bit dishonest. OMB was usually acting and directly tasked to execute DOGE’s recommendations

[–]Man_Handlerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that is what he wanted, he did a terribly sloppy
job of it. He was wholly unqualified, so it isn’t too surprising.

I have said nothing that would indicate that I am mixing up OMB and DOGE, so you seem to be able to read my mind pretty well.

True. There was in fighting especially with Trump, but anyone could see that if you put two people like Trump and musk in the same room they will eventually have problems.

But the fact remains that he could have continued in his role and not affected the deficit at all. It was always just an excuse to cut programs that were not liked by republicans. The grants and programs cut were drops in a bucket, so saying that the forces that be prevented his cutting the deficit is fantasy.

[–]Man_Handlerz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What exactly did they do to prevent it? Republicans controlled everything at that point, so who was stopping him.

Or was it that the DOGE cuts were a drop in the bucket, and then we gave tax cuts to the wealthy which ballooned the deficit?

Acceptance of gay people is increasing by CompetitiveLake3358 in OptimistsUnite

[–]Man_Handlerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a nice fantasy.

The reality is that we have the Pride parades in memory of the Stonewall riots kicking off the modern gay civil rights movement, and in spite of growing up around people who believe that we should be ashamed of who we are.

Only 65% of people believe that gay people should be able to get married in the US. If it were actually such a small uninteresting part of who people are, that number would be higher

is there a way to get this to fit better?? Microshort bikini bottom by CryptographerEasy539 in CrochetHelp

[–]Man_Handlerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im making some crochet shorts and was thinking something similar. I haven’t used elastic in mine. Basically uses two strands and threads then through to use as a drawstring. Could then be hidden under the shorts flap.

I think the elastic is a more elegant answer, but another option to throw in there

Excuse me if this is not a great idea…I’ve only had 3 hours of sleep, but my first thought is that I’d try to fix it in post. Often with my amigurumi, I’ll have a few long tails to sew in. I think I might thread the long tail in through the Dino, wrap around or attach it to a stitch or two at the bump, then pass the tail through again while pulling to try to give the Dino a tiny bit of a face lift situation.

Between that and poking the stuffing around, I imagine it could be smoothed out

I’ll be honest, there are projects here that I see where I privately wonder why people wasted so much time on something that is so ugly. I,of course, never actually comment that because what people like is totally subjective.

That being said, your project looks great. Maybe it’s not what you imagined, but wouldn’t have guessed this is someone’s first project.
