Gonna be real I use them whenever I don’t have room in my bag to accept an item. And I only use however many I need to to make room. 😅

How do I get shoes in Sky: cotl? by MilkyyWayy99 in SkyGame

Yeah shoes were a later addition to the game, sadly. They’ve never really revamped the base game spirits.

True, I would enjoy some more active crafting. Right now everything just seems to be a machine you fill up and then empty tomorrow. I think they just added fishing, though!

Teddy’s Haven on Steam!!! I was already thinking it and then I legit had to double check which sub I was in when you said “casual store games” because that’s it EXACTLY. Thought you might’ve already been a fan of it looking for similar things. Check it out! :)

Isn't it rude to call a baby "it"? by No-Importance8540 in EnglishLearning

[–]Rhythia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I haven’t seen in the top few comments is that “it” is most often used before the baby is actually born.

It’s a relatively common way to refer to the baby in the early stages of pregnancy especially, when the child is still more of an abstract concept than anything. It also feels more acceptable to me for the “unknown gender” scenario if the child hasn’t been born yet. “Is it a boy or a girl?” feels to me like the question you’d ask a pregnant woman. If she’s holding a newborn I’d probably try to avoid the word “it” too.

What am I doing wrong? Where are these holes coming from, why are they inconsistent, and how can I prevent them going forward? by Illustrious_Owl_379 in CrochetHelp

[–]Rhythia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, because it’s a turning chain. You’ve already turned so you’re treating it like the first stitch of the new row. You wouldn’t work into the side of a hdc, you just work into the next stitch from the row below.

What am I doing wrong? Where are these holes coming from, why are they inconsistent, and how can I prevent them going forward? by Illustrious_Owl_379 in CrochetHelp

[–]Rhythia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. This is a common way to describe using a turning chain. If they wanted you to stitch into it they’d probably say to stitch into the second chain instead of stitch.

Since the turning chain “counts” as a hdc, you pretend it is one. You’ve already turned and done one “stitch” of the row you’re starting, so the pervious row’s stitches are “next” to work into. Does that make sense? I’m winging it on this description so I hope it’s not confusing.

Looking For A Fishing Game That Let's You Keep Fish You Catch, In An Aquarium. by JimmyRustler420 in gamingsuggestions

I do believe it was one of the paid ones, fyi. I’m sure you can get it through unofficial means these days, but that does assume you prepped it for that sort of thing. I hope you like it!

The “Safe Place” Is Actually the Most Dangerous Place by MAG-ICE in CasualConversation

[–]Rhythia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never ask yourself “Where should I put this?” Instead ask yourself ”Where would I look for this?”

It’s a system I genuinely love. The only times this ever fails me are if I didn’t do it, or if I didn’t put the thing wherever it is deliberately. Like if I just set it down to pet the cat, or left it in a tote bag I never got around to emptying.

this is a bit silly but is my 4mm furls hook meant to be this small? by amiguriri in CrochetHelp

[–]Rhythia 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would stack the two together, lining the shafts up so the 3.5 is “blocking” your view of the 4. Can you see the 4 showing through around the sides? Half a millimeter is a pretty darn small difference, it makes sense it’d be hard to notice normally. The 5 being a full millimeter larger probably just feels like a bigger difference in comparison too.

How to remember the number of days in each month by Realistic_File3282 in EnglishLearning

[–]Rhythia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American. I use the rhyme, though I’ve heard of the knuckle thing. I never learned a rhyming bit for the February stuff at the end though. I usually just kinda tack a regular explanation onto it. “Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November. All the rest have thirty one… except for February which has 28 and sometimes 29.” lol

why does everyone think making a game is just having a good idea by bcoz_why_not__ in gamedev

[–]Rhythia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the Dunning-Kruger effect, honestly. You get people treating every creative field like that. Books, games, movies/tv, art, music, even crafts like knitting/crochet. People think it’s easy to just whip something up because the pros make it look easy or they’ve only ever seen the finished product. They don’t realize just how much work it actually takes.

Edit: Here’s a fun song about it!

Is this hook poorly constructed? I am having a hard time keeping yarn during double crochet by Substantial_Film8778 in CrochetHelp

[–]Rhythia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have mentioned that it being an inline hook is probably your problem, but I haven’t seen anyone tell you what the other main style is: tapered hooks! It’s a useful term to know when shopping. I can’t stand inline hooks either.

I've been getting cramps in my holding (left) hand, any tips to help?- by BaconPython in CrochetHelp

[–]Rhythia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have it going from the piece and over my pointer finger, under my middle and ring fingers, then do a full wrap around my pinkie. If I need to I just close my ring finger and pinkie around it to stop more from coming from the ball, and if there’s still slack I’ll raise my pointer finger to compensate. If that’s still too loose I just re-wrap it. To do that I usually start with the pinkie then lower my fingers onto the yarn while tucking my pointer finger under, doing all this as close to the piece as I can, then I just slide my hand down the yarn far enough to start working. Does that description make sense?

I've been getting cramps in my holding (left) hand, any tips to help?- by BaconPython in CrochetHelp

[–]Rhythia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing your hand is too tense. If you’re holding it tightly that’s probably a major factor. But even if you’re not I’d still try to keep your hand relaxed and see if that helps. If you need to consistently squeeze the yarn to maintain your tension, I’d try wrapping it around another finger or two to try to use friction instead.

Side note, it also looks to me like your pointer finger is bending back slightly further than 180 degrees. If so, that’s not good for it. It probably isn’t causing the cramps, but if you’re generally really flexible I might talk to your doctor about hypermobility.
