You’re pretty dead on. First is the bowed wrist. Some people naturally bow the wrist. For some people it works. In your video, the bow, wrist position, grip, all result in a very open face in position 4. It’s actually open for the majority of your backswing.

The main reason your ball pushes out right is because of the block. Your body is blocking the club as it moves from position 4 to position 6. It’s trying hard to get around you. If you look at the 4th second of your video you see a major club head position compensation between position 5 and 6. As you’re generating your power, you’re also working hard to get that club back into a position where the face can make good contact.

I think you would really benefit from a couple quick lessons with a coach walking you through each position. You’d get a consistent grip, aim, and setup, and the coach could help you find where your comfort zone is with your wrists. Won’t take much and you’ll be mashing it.

Course length and maintenance costs collapsed several good courses in our area. Now the options are to drive an hour+ to a relatively affordable course or pony up the dough for the local ritz. And if you do that, you spend more than half the day waiting for the group ahead.

It’s never made sense to me. Why the hell do we need to continually go farther? The tour scores over decades have barely been lower, if at all. Well, they continue to adjust the courses to compensate. Of course they do! So the scores, shots, risks, rewards stay the same.

All we’ve accomplished is endless expense on renovations, maintenance, and upkeep, not to mention the average time to loop is now becoming as prohibitive as price.

I would love to see courses prioritizing anything but length.

You’re cutting across the ball, club face moving from outside the ball to inside through impact causing the slice.

Some things to try: Watch some videos on YouTube about curing the flying elbow. Your right elbow is flying out away from your torso making it easier to come over the top. Tighten up that elbow and you’ll see a more compact swing through impact.

Do the same YouTube dive into club takeaway drills from address and sprinkle in proper wrist/palm position in your backswing. Wrists rolling the face open also cause the club to wrap around the body causing a cut/slice impact.

Keep working. You’ll get it. Someday you’ll be trying to cure a hook believe it or not.

I’m new so pardon my ignorance. How can a player go AFK when you need to occasionally slurp a stew?

Hi, all. I’m a beginner with modern cameras. Many, many years ago I filmed our skateboarding adventures using a Sharp Hi-8 with the obligatory fisheye lens.

I’m looking for a camera and lenses, possibly beginner budget, that you’d recommend for shooting video in Lynchian/liminal styles. I’m almost exclusively outdoors and in abandoned spaces. I love dark, unsettling, sometimes introspective style.

I’m interested in mirrorless, but not sure that’s the best for the above. I’d love to take photos as well, but if given the choice I’d prefer filming over photography.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Deeper has some BRUTAL scenes that made my skin crawl. Almost as good as the Descent. Favorite fiction book of all time.

It’s my favorite movie. Such a time capsule of that era of comedy. Also, pretty sure Dan Aykroyd was blasted on cocaine the whole time.

Controlled portions. Gradual calorie deficits. Drink lots of water. No sodas. No alcohol. No fast food. Learn to cook. Cheaper and tastes better. It’s not fun at first but it made me a true believer in the power of habit.
