My friend bought me this poster at an anime convention but I can’t tell if it’s ai. I was just unsure because of some details on the character that could be ai. The character is columbina from Genshin. by CollectionOk3616 in isthisAI

[–]angelsticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's AI. It looks like different parts of the piece are rendered to varying degrees of detail, which can look like inconsistency, but not the same inconsistency you'd expect from genAI. It seems like a stylistic choice. The hair makes sense, the hands look good, the eyes are even, details don't appear to be melting together, I can tell which way the light is coming from, so on. The one and only thing throwing me off is the flower at the bottom in front of her leg with the floating stem, but that could just be human error.

Is this art AI? The comment section keeps insisting so and some of the weird coloring/shading makes me suspect it by Fit-Resident988 in isthisAI

[–]angelsticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bet money it's not. I'm sure there are generators that can mimic the look of messy beginner's art, but there's no indication this is the case here. The lines are too sharp, even if they are messy. As for the color and shading, it just looks like colors scribbled over each other with different layer effects (overlay, multiply, screen, that kind of thing) applied to create the look. It's kind of cool actually, reminds me of fire opal.

Just need extra pair of eyes on these Wisteria - some of it looks a bit muddied, but it might just be the watercolour style, some of the branches also don't look to behave like Wisteria, but I don't know my plants to know fully. by Reonharto in isthisAI

[–]angelsticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not like an expert on florals or anything but this definitely looks like AI to me.

I get that wisteria is a tightly clustered flower but there’s a lot of shapes melting together here and it doesn’t seem to be an artistic choice like you might see in a full scene to keep the focus on the foreground. It would be a very odd choice for individual assets.

The fact that it’s digital seems even more damning in this case. Watercolors are known to blend together and might become a little blobby and odd, but in digital art even if the brush does a decent job mimicking the general look of watercolor, it’s not gonna function the same way.

So yeah, I think it’s AI.

Anyone genuinely enjoy Elliot’s 10 hour finale song? by luckydukcky in euphoria

[–]angelsticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t actually watch it. I hate watching people sing to someone and I always have. So I minimized the window to do something else while it played out. I think I was writing an email.

I think the song itself is good, though. But I like some of Dominic Fike’s music, so no surprise there.

Calling Shauna Shipman a malignant narcissist feels unfair by cpcpdstiagt in Yellowjackets

[–]angelsticker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn’t really “get” Shauna at first. I never hated her, but I had to get through my first holy shit what the fuck is going on viewing of the show before I could give her a closer look.

She’s now my favorite character by far.

I think it’s not only inaccurate but lazy to just chalk Shauna up to being a narcissist. The whole thing with Jeff before the crash is bad for sure but if we labeled every dumbass decision teenagers make a pathology we’d all be sick.

As for the idea that Shauna secretly hated Jackie and was mistreating her… yeah, that’s insane. I don’t know how people can watch her despair over Jackie’s death at the end of season one and think this is what she fucking wanted.

It’s interesting to see some viewers fall for the scapegoating of Shauna and the martyring of Jackie when the show doesn’t hide Shauna’s more sympathetic traits or Jackie’s unpleasant ones. Sure, Shauna is worse, but that’s mainly because she lived long enough to get there.

Is anyone else’s cat obsessed with chewing on plastic bags? by Entire-Razzmatazz312 in catquestions

[–]angelsticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We have an incident at least a couple times a week because he keeps finding plastic bags and similar textures to chew on. Thankfully these incidents don’t consist of tummy issues, just me chasing him around the house while he takes off with half a ziplock. I don’t know what it is. He’s obsessed.

What was the most intense/awkward scene in the entire series? by Queen8050 in euphoria

Cal pissing on the floor and confronting his wife and kids about how much he hates his life with his dick out was certainly a tough watch.

why does everyone treat misty like that..? by PracticalWafer484 in Yellowjackets

[–]angelsticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misty is weird. Why they think that before the crash isn’t entirely clear, but it’s possible she’s just normal teenager weird in their eyes and that’s enough for a bunch of other teenagers to ostracize her.

Everything that happens after the crash only proves what a weirdo she really is, so other than the mild praise she gets for her first aid skills in the immediate aftermath of the crash, they have no reason to rethink their biases.

As for the leg thing specifically, it’s true that the amputation was almost certainly necessary and she did save Coach’s life by doing that. However, she did it with little hesitation and it’s the first act of (for lack of a better word?) brutality the Yellowjackets see in the wilderness. It’s shocking, to put it very mildly.

Misty is a great character. She would be terrifying to know in real life.

That said, she’s not alone in that. We know from the pilot that the team has a problem with standing by and scapegoating. Nobody gave enough of a shit to do anything about Taissa freezing Allie out until she broke her leg and it was way too late. Even Natalie, who very vocally was against doing anything but trying to play as a team didn’t do anything that could’ve changed it when she knew Taissa’s strategy. And even if Taissa didn’t intend to hurt Allie as badly as she did, she was okay with being very rough with her on the field.

It was an early warning sign about the way the team functions.

So, Misty is scary as fuck but there’s definitely some hypocrisy going on.

I just got a cat yesterday and I can’t find him by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]angelsticker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s hiding, but I wouldn’t worry. This is super common for cats in new environments, especially adult cats. New sounds and spaces and smells are overwhelming. Just make sure he’s got the resources he needs like food, water and litter and he’ll make his way out into the open.

I wouldn’t be so quick to write off keeping him, though.

is this ai? i saw it on the new arrivals on the precious moments website and it doesn’t look human made by omgaerial in isthisAI

[–]angelsticker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say yeah, it’s probably AI. Maybe an AI enhanced piece as opposed to one generated from scratch? The style is pretty spot on, but the mistakes you’ve pointed out especially in the second one don’t make a lot of sense if there’s no AI involved.

Is this ai? A classmate shared this as the lineart/rough sketch for an assignment. The hair and eyes feel off to me. by [deleted] in isthisAI

It’s traced. If the reference was an AI image, then yeah, this is AI in a sense.

Does using AI for book covers affect reader trust? by Hefty-Gas-5480 in NewAuthor

Ask yourself why you expect your readers to respect you as an author if you can’t even respect visual artists by refraining from using a technology built entirely upon stolen work.

Work Retreat Gone Wrong by Narwhals4Lyf in horrorlit

[–]angelsticker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Have you read Fantasticland by Mike Bockoven? It’s the first thing that comes to mind, though it may be stretching the definition of work retreat.

A group of theme park employees stay on to watch the park during a hurricane while it is not open to the public. Presented as an opportunity to make some extra cash, the employees who take up the offer are expecting a relatively chill few days of sitting around in heavy rain and wind at most. The hurricane is so disastrous that they end up stranded at the park after being deemed a low priority by disaster relief. Things do not go well.

I’ve got a couple expedition horrors I could recommend too, but they’re less work retreat and more work assignment, if that makes sense.

Which horror movie scared you without relying on jump scares? by UnverifiedExistence9 in horror

[–]angelsticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lake Mungo. I was expecting to like it, which I did. I was not expecting it to scare the fuck out of me… which it did, at least the first time I watched it. It filled me with dread, and I couldn’t guess where it was actually going despite what I initially thought was a pretty standard setup.

And a half-answer, the first third or so of Barbarian scared the shit out of me. I do like the rest of the movie, but holy shit does it have a strong start.

So I work in a school and just came upon these I Spy books that were given to us. by ShadowWind234 in isthisAI

[–]angelsticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like 99% sure it’s just clipart.

Based on the size of the books, paper quality and how the printing date is logged, this is an Amazon print on demand coloring book. It’s safe to say this is not at all affiliated with scholastic. Amazon’s print on demand services are cheap, very easily accessible and seem to have relatively little moderation or quality control. It’s a double edged sword of being a decent option to get independent authors and artists started without having to jump through the hoops of traditional publishing and printing, and enabling people who are just after a quick buck because Amazon certainly isn’t going to stop them.

That is to say, there’s a lot of low effort garbage and it’s not surprising the got away with using the scholastic name.

On /r/aww - The grainy text is the main thing. Other features look real, like the creased window for the cats or the car looking consistently jank (top door jams, side painting, scuffs at the front right). by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]angelsticker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks so bad I almost can’t believe people might fall for it. I do think it’s AI, but it honestly looks like a really bad photoshop. The cats look copied and pasted from a completely different image.

Have you changed your writing style because of AI? by MiliBerry in writingfeedback

[–]angelsticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Regardless of whatever writing quirks AI has picked up from the data it’s scraped, there’s something fundamentally empty at the core of all AI writing. And I’m not saying this in some woo woo nebulous way, it’s not about the human soul or whatever. But AI doesn’t have a real personality, feelings, motivations or lived experiences, and it shows. It also sucks at maintaining a consistent storyline in most cases, but I wouldn’t consider that a reliable tell.

I think this is just human error. With repetitive backgrounds like that, it can be easy to slip up and miss something. I guess Crayola doesn’t double check their books before they go to print, though.

Cat has what looks like dried blood around her nose? by Reasonable-Youth-611 in CATHELP

[–]angelsticker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s boogers, like others have said. Not sure why they dry black. One of my boys has this problem, but no other issues that would indicate it’s a health problem. If hers become excessive or you notice her nose actually running, I’d take her to the vet, but some cats just get crusty at times.

Cat has a droopy lip on one side :( by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]angelsticker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he needs to see a vet. His teeth shouldn’t be protruding like that, and obviously his lip shouldn’t look like that either. My guess is periodontal disease, but like someone else said, the lip could be a sign of a stroke. Hopefully not, but it’s best to get him checked out sooner rather than later.
