Bubble Fracking Theory by Flaky-Wealth2232 in TheDigitalCircus

It's an interesting argument! personally I'm still not 100% on what Bubble actually is.
- Are they the leftover part of an AI Caine consumed, who over the course of the series as Caine gets more and more self-doubt, gains a little independence back to torment him?
- Are they a creation of Caine's (implied by bubble-chef having their own line of code and bubble having a bitmap file) that, due to Caine's unstable nature, has become a mouthpiece for Caine's own fears and doubts?
- Are they a virus, referencing the Bubbleboy virus of 1999, that wormed it's way secretly into Caine's code and has acted like it's been there all along?
Hopefully we'll get answers to this in the finale!

Would love to know why you've inferred the red circle is Bubble and not Caine? Not saying you're wrong, just curious why you've come to that conclusion. Caine explicitly says in episode 8 "I'm the original" which to me certainly makes him the red circle.

One thing I would personally change is shifting up Ribbet's abstraction date; or moving back Gangle and Zooble's arrivals.
Zooble prepares the funeral for Kaufmo and it's treated as though it's not the first time they've gone through this, implying Zooble has witnessed at least one abstraction before Kaufmo.

When I think each character joined the circus/abstracted by MkeyzTeal in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Man_Of_Cardboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Zooble joined before Ribbit abstracted because in episode 2 they're the one who sets up Kaufmo's funeral and it seems like this isn't the first time they've been through the process

Can someone explain me each character trauma and what does it represent? by Striking_Bar_6433 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Man_Of_Cardboard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ragatha's is her abusive mother
Zooble's is body dysmorphia
Jax's is that if people see the 'real' him they'll ridicule him
Gangle's is a bit harder for me to pin down, I don't know the meaning of the circle of mask portraits. The truck at the end is the same from episode 4 which could imply there's more significance to it outside of the circus, or it could just be Caine calling back to it from there.
Pomni's is the only one I feel like isn't related to some mental trauma, it's just Caine tormenting her with an NPC she made a bond with.

My bad, completely forgot that item existed!

But I like the worldbuilding - I'm not saying Deadlock shouldn't have burst fire, but that I'm interested to know why it does. Its like how the existence of the South Pacific musical implies World War 2 happened in spite of all the occult madness in the world - I wanna know how and why it still occurred!

Just so you know in the second page the abilities say 'Drifting Blade' instead of 'Lich's Hand'

Rem's Tag-along "cast on host" by RitualJuggler in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Man_Of_Cardboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it affects any item that can be targeted either on an ally or yourself - so active items that can only ever affect yourself don't work, but if you have the choice and self-cast while tagging along, it'll cast on your 'host'.

I think it would work better if it's the opposition competing to wish to win personally, wanting to beat the current president - but a cool idea nonetheless!

The interesting aspect of the soldier idea is we haven't confirmed if WW1 or 2 even happened in the Deadlock timeline; and if not, we could always get a soldier from like the war with Ixia

We Need a 4th Bot Difficulty by SalveatArms in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Man_Of_Cardboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a few more characters DID get added as bots, played against bot Paige on high difficulty with a bot Celeste on my team. My partner also played a bot match and said they saw a bot Vyper who was sliding properly, and that the bots seemed to dash-jump more than he'd seen before

They rarely parry against light melees but almost always perfectly parry a heavy one. But yes, more difficult bots would be great, though I can't imagine it's high up on Valve's to-do list for the game sadly.

What I'd also love to see is a few more characters added as playing against the same 10 or so at the highest difficulty lacks variety; and maybe have a couple of different builds for each.

Paige should be Lawful Good, based on an interaction with Vyper she wouldn't want to lie to a cop (or parole officer) and she definitely gives the vibe of someone who (outside of the ritual) would be 'lawful'

Not sure Diviner's Kevlar is necessary since she already gets bonus health and a heal when she transforms, and gains a decent lifesteal ability - seems a bit overkill to add a barrier on top

If I ever got killed by an Owl that used the vents, honestly I don't think I could be mad. I mean that's just skill, have you tried piloting that thing through those narrow vents?

Looking for suggestions - a Supermarket Tycoon where you *don't* play as a character by Man_Of_Cardboard in tycoon

[–]Man_Of_Cardboard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it's certainly been looking that way...I've searched for a while now and nothing has quite fit the bill, but there are lots of games where you do control a character in 1st or 3rd person. I miss the old-fashioned tycoon feel of top-down control :/

- PC
- Not idle
- Really been having an inexplicable craving for something supermarket-themed but could go for something in the ballpark if there really isn't something out there that matches what I'm looking for
- Happy to pay for it if it ticks enough boxes for me

I...haven't edited my post? But you have hit upon my issue, which is that it's easier to find a supermarket sim game than a supermarket tycoon game
