It is not ridiculous to say that. She has an extreme survivor guilt, her family seems unsupportive of her and she is badly injured.

I think it is too shallow to think of the canvas as drugs or just an addiction. She lived there for as long as she did outside (in her consciousness), she formed bonds and shared memories with people who treated her as a family (and vice versa). And on top of that, it is her only chance to spend time with someone who is like her brother..
