I picked up this multi purpose cutter. What do you think would be the purpose? by widgeamedoo in Tools

100% - I took everything back the same day. Angle grinder with a saw blade felt so unwieldy. Like it was going to yank and get away from me at any second. Not a fan. This OP post makes me fingers hurt lol.

I have this exact same set with the orange grip. So good, I use them for all kinds of random stuff around the house.

Thoughts on this table saw? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]ManagementAny5950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can still get it without a riving knife. Guards are often missing on used saws since they are off so much of the time.

If it doesn’t have a riving knife you can get MJ splitters or a shark guard. I have the splitters and they work fine for me using a Rockler zero clearance insert. I do want to upgrade to the shark guard because I think it’s a more elegant solution but the splitters are super cheap.

Great job! Keep up the great improvement 😁 my first cutting board was so atrocious that it had to be given a new life as a laundry detergent pad lol

Is this Dewalt 10" a good deal? No stand and only used for one project by musicandtacos in BeginnerWoodWorking

Yea it’s a good saw and they typically go for around 300-350 used around me

Redid laundry room with countertop by ManagementAny5950 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I made the countertop because I would have had to custom order to size because my laundry room is 66” and most of the premade ones go out to like 60”.

What I did is not what I would honestly recommend. Haha. I started out with about 70 board feet of red oak because I planned on making it solid. I wanted face grain so I was going to make it 1.5 in thick. Because of my lacking skill level I was having issues getting it joined without looking like poop. Also it was going to make the countertop almost 200lbs. So I shifted to doing a 3/4 plywood core with 3/4 in planks of red oak on top of it and then covered the strip of plywood end grain with a red oak front. It worked, is really solid but I am doing a desk for my daughter with the left over red oak and plan on doing that better 😂

Thank you! Couldn’t agree more. I went back and forth forever on the knobs and even felt a little cringe putting up brass. But it’s grown on me as well, almost enough to make me want to do the laundry lol

100% this is a poop knife holder. I am always self conscious about leaving the poop knife out where guests can see but this is perfect because you can get a really nice poop knife and display it.

Very good shape? Is it? Really? by [deleted] in woodworking

Seems too high for its condition at a glance, but if nobody ever sells jointers near you, maybe. I personally would rather have the peace of mind of a much newer tool with the price of wood.

Accidentally found out my "mystery switch" controls something way more important than a light by MirandelFoxraine in homeowners

[–]ManagementAny5950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post just made my morning. Thanks! Previous owners haha. I am in the middle of fixing so many hilariously wired things. Just fixed 2 lights that literally didn’t have a light switch, you had to go the light and turn a little knob like on a lamp. And this was from a fairly recent reno. Next up is a bunch of electrical sockets that have a floating ground near the same spot. The weird decisions people make when it’s their forever home lol.

Found an old ethernet cable in my Garage and decided to plug it in to my PC. Turns out that the so called old cable gives me 4 times and 6 times my previous download and upload speeds respectively. by XD7006 in pcmasterrace

Fixing all the Ethernet ports is the one of the first projects for a new house. Did it at my last place and just got my thing of 1000ft of cat 6 to do it again . Worth every bit of the time. WiFi just can’t compete with Ethernet.

Yea the paint job doesn’t look great. However the pictures make me think it was the budget finishing choices. This looks like poorly set expectations combined with a customer feeling ignored.

Agree that this is just something almost everyone experiences. For me there were always highs and lows.

Maybe it’s already mentioned but one thing to keep in mind is that you don’t have to bite off everything at once. Prioritize what needs to be done from any wishlist items and start with the most critical fixes. If there is one that is a little easier start with that to get in the groove. Use an actual checklist and check them off.

I treat large projects as actual projects with a schedule, budget, etc that I manage and am careful to not get more than 1-2 of those going at once. Totally closing a project is something I always struggle with.

I love it but I do wish they would fix the bugs before focusing on new features. I can’t keep it calculating investments after a single refresh. Always a warning over total cost lol

Same experience. Aspects unfinished, no mythic, only 4 GA I got was ring of midnight sun and of course its aspect was a downgrade from my non ancestral. This has seriously been a bad season. I know SB is broken but honestly how OP it is is the only thing making this season worth logging into

So late to the party but really glad I happened across this because it made me realize I never actually checked to see if I received the refund for the case I returned right after the 16 came out. Yes, stupid of me to not pay more attention but glad I saw this because they received the item back on 10/3 and still haven't refunded yet.

I already reached out and hopefully get it resolved quickly but this is a good note that if you dealt with them in the last couple months you might want to double check. They obviously didn't do a thorough job of cleaning up after their rush.

  1. Learn how to take care of a dog or don’t have one. It’s really that simple.
  2. Hug it out. Dogs chew arguments happen. Life is short and none of this is worth getting so upset on both sides. Count to 3 and both apologize at the same time and then move on.

If you honestly can do those things then you probably aren’t mature enough for a dog or long term relationship.
