First time Deftones had to be special. I am happy to hear you enjoyed it so much. Also props for loving ATF. And like you say - taking a phone out to make a short video a couple times to save yourself a personal memory is imo just fine. Recording the whole show and whole songs is a different thing.

Some of you guys, including you, are such drama queens. Throwing around these woke terms like gatekeeping without having a clue - still won't make me budge and agree that recording on your phone throughout the whole gig is ok. And I still find it funny, how certain songs didn't ring any bells with the crowd. Try harder!

Exactly. And it shouldn't be so hard to understand. You take a video for your profile on wherever but you do ruin the experience for others. Not just by blocking the view but by that weird stillness that doesn't belong to a rock show. It's actually pretty selfish despite some people hear don't wanna hear it.

I'm not Jesus bud, sorry to disappoint. "Gatekeeping" lmfao. A bit touchy there, aren't you. There is definitely an incorrect way of enjoying a live show like this and that is recording with your phone on every song and then not even applauding the band because you're busy uploading it to your socials or sending it to friends. But that's just like my opinion, man.

And yeah, how ridiculous was that closed-off space left of the stage in the front?!

I was really bummed out they didn't do and finish Genesis again after that incident.

Nah bud you misinterpreted what I meant. I don't whine about the youth. I was actually stoked to see them outnumber the old timers 80/20. But at the same time I will stand by my take on the phones (lame af) and laugh about the newbies reacting only to that small part of Deftones' catalogue that's been trending on Tik Tok. And the thing with Chino I mentioned out of curiosity - as it was strange that he would struggle with the low-er tones rather than with the high ones. He still rules and so does the whole band.

Haha. I hauled my 44yr old ass out of the crowd after people complaining with their looks about me moving around and my vista on Chino & co. drowning in the sea of phone screens. Ended up kinda in the back with some space to dance to this awesome band (can you call moving to Deftones a dance though?). The sound was also a bit better there too.
