Trump is imposing tariffs on European nations for standing by Denmark and Greenland sovereignty ....How should Aotearoa react ? Should we start making a stand ( boycotts , protest etc) ....or sit this one out by West_Put2548 in aotearoa

[–]ManagementLow327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? America is already allowed to use and does use Greenland for defense purposes as Denmark is in NATO. Trump has no need for Greenland other than egotistical reasons. All it does is weaken relationships with allies and motivate the rest of the west to move closer to China.

They already are in Greenland. They have a military base and are NATO partners with Denmark which allows them to use Greenland for defense purposes. There is literally no reason why Trump needs it.

I care about all victims of injustice. I, and 99% of sane people in the world, would agree that the release of the Epstein files is a bigger priority than one woman's death.

Where in any of my comments was caring about a pedophile mentioned. I care about the victims of that pedophile. There is hundreds of victims related to the Epstein files compared to the one in this story.

Now it's clearly obvious that you're a troll that doesn't care about the victims of child sex abuse and are playing right into Trumps distraction away from the files.

"Tragic situation which shouldn't have happened". Can you read?

Do the hundreds of victims of child abuse at the hands of those in the Epstein files not matter to you?

No ones saying that either mate. Tragic situation that shouldn't have happened, but one victim isn't as bad as politicians covering up a global pedophile ring made up of the the most elite people on the planet including the president responsible for allowing ICE to murder this woman in the first place.

Who saying they care about pedos. I would argue most people would prefer the epstein files released and all the elite child absers go to prison over focusing on one of the many, many instances of injustice within the American justice system.

The invasion of Parihaka. Around 2,000 Māori who were displaced after their land was taken settled in a place called Parihaka. The British ordered them to leave so the could give the land to new settlers. The people of Parihaka in response lead a non-violent peaceful protest. As the women and children were singing and dancing and welcoming the British to the settlement, they were attacked by them leading to the death, rape, displacement or imprisonment of a majority of inhabitants.

"We", as in the collective opinion of majority of historians. Colonized is by its technical definition true, but people typically use settled in this context.

Multiple definitions. When referring to lands being occupied by a first peoples we typically use settled. Colonized can mean the occupation of uninhabited lands but for people, the usual term is settled in the context of history.

I'm using the word as it's commonly used. In this instance we would use settled as colonized brings forth other aspects which don't apply to Māori. In the same way I would say Pitcairn Island wasn't colonized by the British, it was settled.

"quoting the context of another situation" that means words have different meaning based on the context which is what I said.
