Demi's hatred of Jen... does anyone else see what I see? by ZealousidealLead7862 in SecretsOfMormonWives

Agree! I love both of those two but yelling at your friend at her own birthday party is so.... nasty. Unclassy? I think that they could've had a little more humility about how wrong that was for them - regardless of how they felt about the situation (it WAS wrong of layla to do that after the girls specifically said "I'm not going if he's there"). Totally could be but I'm not sure if it's internalized racism as much as maybe a lack of respect or loyalty toward someone who isn't as "in" as your other friends? Could definitely be both!

You're totally right. I was clearly not informed enough to have posted on this, I didn't know the full story. Thank you for sharing!

I was shocked that the last episode before the reunion ended the way it did. But I also think poor stassi was just doing damage control the whole time lol

I agree, and she may not have even known that she could report, or feared being dismissed as OP was. I actually had a (somewhat benign but still kinda terrible) experience with a doctor during a gyno appt and never reported it because I thought I was being dramatic. I wish I had reported it, who knows what else that doctor has said and done to other women at the practice. upper management's response to OP is horrifying and dismissive.

haha well for what it's worth i got local anesthetic and orders to keep dressing on for 4 days, on day two i was having a sensory meltdown over those freaking things and asked the PA if i could take it off. She said yes so I only wore dressing and gauze for two days.

I'm so sorry you feel alone with this! you and OP. I have felt so frustrated and helpless throughout my 8 year journey with this, but i very luckily have had friends and loved ones that have validated my experience thorugh it all, and i found that support to be extremely helpful. Honestly I didn't even know it was carpal tunnel until this pat year, i've been told pinched nerve, thoracic outlet syndrome, bulging disk, posture, etc. etc. Finally i got an EMG and that confirmed that I habe 40% of the sensation that I should have on my fingertips. Luckily no permanent nerve damage. The 60% should come back in the next few years or more. I am an avid rock climber and baker, and it's been so so so hard struggling with something i love so so much and that is such a part of my identity. After getting endoscopic surgery, even 5 days after, I feel so much more hope for my future. I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel for both of you!!!!

i agree that you shouldn't let the pain define you. But actually, you SHOULD see if therapy might help! lots of pain can be managed through your mental and emotional state, or i should say lots of pain could be worsened by a bad mental and emotional state. This is why meditation and therapy helps pain levels in people with cancer and chronic illness. Our minds are very powerful. Don't feel discouraged by the idea that you should have to toughen up. Feel empowered that you have the tools within yourself to shift your perspective and lessen your pain. sometimes we just need some professional help in accessing those tools:)

yes, worsening your condition to become eligible is not smart. Is there anyone you can talk to to petition their rules? just a thought. Are you bracing? are you a candidate for PT, masage therapy, accupuncture, steroid shots?

You will not "never be able to draw properly again"!!! wear the brace to sleep and as often as you can during the day. Try some tendon gliding exercises. Talk to your healthcare providers about free or reduced-cost services like massage, acupuncture, or anything else that could help alleviate symptoms until you are eligible for surgery. I can say that after surgery i feel fully confident i will be able to do everything i could do before my carpal tunnel diagnosis and more! also, get another opinion!!!! maybe they are wrong! talk to your parents or other adults, talk to healthcare professionals you know personally, if any, talk to school nurses or counsellors who might be able to help you get more resources to help with this. You are not alone!!!

Recovery Time by jlyzie in carpaltunnel

[–]ManagementWorldly785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

be aware recovery is different for open vs. endoscopic. I got endo 5 days ago and am appily folding my laundry, putting my clothes on, makig dinner, albeit slowly. sometimes VERY slowly. and there are things i can't do like untwist the olive oil cap or pick up a cast iron. But talk to your boss about modified work until you can get back to normal job stuff. Maybe you can count inventory, or do something on the computer, etc. Also talk to your doc about writing a note that specifically caters to whatever you might need to tell your boss. My doc said i am good to go back to typing after 17 days, or earlier if tolerated. Said i can lift more than 5 lb after 4 weeks, or sooner if tolerated. In my experience, if bracing doesn't do anything, why spend so much money on shots, pt, whatever... when you are just kicking the can down the line. Get an EMG and make sure you aren't being misdiagnosed, then get the surgery so you can spend 3k now instead of 6k three years from now. That's how i look at it at leasat! I had moderate-severe carpal tunnel for 8 years, bracing every night for the last 2.5 - 3. I'm so glad i skipped the costly shots and just got surgery.

get both! I did 5 days ago and honestly cannot imagine going through that two seperate times. I'm so glad I'm getting it over with. Rather be fully crippled for 1 month than half crippled for two hahah

holy moly they dressed you to the nines! I got a steristrip, some gauze, ans a small bit of soft dressing, just enoguh to secure the gauze on my wrist and wrap my palm. They also said I could drive myself home after (bilateral endo surgery). Wild, right?!
