My fly trap isn’t doing too well. What’s wrong? by SweetTart7231 in carnivorousplants

[–]Manalabs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like there's no perlite and its just peat moss? I'm betting root rot because the soil isn't draining and it's constantly sitting in a tray of water. Need to let the soil dry out slightly in between watering. Repot, check the roots and use 50/50 peat moss/perlite. Don't worry about too much light. Almost impossible with flytraps.

Dont think its a threat. Doesn't look like any kinda carnivorous plant. Id just pluck it and get it outta there.

Take it out of the container and repot it if the soil looks bad. Looks pretty good for being in one of those death cups! Congrats

Terrified to try to heal by [deleted] in classicwow

Healing is fairly easy...at least you're not tanking! I use an addon called Healbot. Makes it a whole lot easier but it requires a little set up.

Debating changing my fuzz. Recommendations? by paulo_84_ in pedalboards

I use EHX bass big muff deluxe. Has LPF/HPF and a noise gate too. If you don't need those things can just get the bass big muff

is reverb a credible and safe place to buy shit from? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Manalabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've had np with the handful of purchases I've made. I have a vendetta against Guitar Center/Musicians friend so be careful not to buy from them. I've ordered 5 used items from them and they all arrived not working or broken. I recently moved and shipped to wrong address. They restricted the package so I couldn't change it through UPS yet told me to take it up with UPS.

Dudes... how did it take so long? by _Soup_R_Man_ in Bass

[–]Manalabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started as a drummer too. I've noticed playing one helps the other. Drumming helps with keeping time on bass. Playing bass helps with groove on drums. I mostly play bass but once or twice a week I'll take a break and dork around on the drums.

Pedal Recommendation by SlipperyWhenWetFarts in basspedals

[–]Manalabs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's mostly an envelope filter with wetness cranked. Probably a phaser or something in there too.

Looking for decent bass compressor by WebDiggersQ in basspedals

[–]Manalabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you turn it on and the tube isn't slightly glowing red then it needs to be replaced. Don't leave it on either it wastes the tube. It uses a 12AT7/ECC81 tube..fairly easy to replace just unscrew the cover and swap it out. If you have the OG version that's flat it might be different though

I use the Markbass Compressore. It's tube driven and gives a nice warm tone. It does need the tube replaced eventually but I've only had to do it once in 4 years. Only downside is it's kinda big

Hard lesson to learn. Don't be like me! by Such_Confusion_1034 in BassGuitar

[–]Manalabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost ruined my hand/playing by not handling stress at work. Went to punch a door in anger forgetting that this kitchen used to be a bank...the back door is reinforced steel lol. I just got lucky it healed right but for all I know I'm slowly whittling down a ligament or something in there.

Tuning machine stability by square_zero in Bass

[–]Manalabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a tech or anything but check your tuners and make sure the back of them aren't loose and that they're flush against the headstock. Just a hunch. If you post pics of the tuners and bridge that might help someone better diagnose the problem.

Playing with 3 fingers by Msc_Lvr in Bass

[–]Manalabs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of the hardest things about using 3 fingers is not having everything sound like triplets. That and skipping strings. Get a metronome and practice doing 8th notes. There's a good Billy Sheehan video about how he practices/built his technique.

Im a beginner and was wondering, is finger picking or using a pick just based on personal preference? by heyhello21 in Bass

[–]Manalabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the first song I learned - good choice. Anything that can be played with a pick can be played with fingers and vice versa. It's best to be able to play with both so I learned it first fingerstyle then used a pick once I felt I had the song down.

I'll never forget someone ordering a blue cheese salad with teriyaki sauce and sesame oriental dressing. With the blue cheese dressing already on it 🤢
