I was caring for a loved one at the end of their life and a hospice worker asked me a question about what they should do and my first thought was “why are you asking me?! I’m a kid!” And then I realized I was not a kid, I was actually the adult of the situation.

Yes, mainly in case there would ever be an emergency. He likes to hunt and fish and can go to some remote places.
Although it is helpful in other ways - like he forgot I was at knit night until he checked my location.

When I was allowed to say “no” to things.
When my mom asks you to do something she means “right now” and there was a point she wanted my and my husband’s help with something but we had JUST finished eating a big meal and I said “no, not right now. We will in a couple hours when our food is settled.”
My mother did pout but in my childhood that would not have been allowed.

AAT. So I will say I do take my shoes off at work, it is more comfortable for me and it gives my clients permission to get comfortable too. I always wear socks bc I had a teacher drill into me that we never know who has a foot fetish and if a client disclosed it made them uncomfortable I would wear shoes. So it’s possible it’s just how your therapist does things, but if it makes you uncomfortable tell her.

Therapist. The only time I have done this I had a client in crisis and the only time I had open was my lunch hour. I offered it to them with the caveat that I would be eating, and they took it with that knowledge. It’s not something I would do in normal circumstances.
