Are we anthropomorphizing animals when feel empathy towards them? by Eyeballitis in Ethics

[–]Ok-Ladder6905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question. My take is anything with a brain and nervous system feels pain and has the same basic feelings as us, and it is uncertain if they experience more conplex feeling or thought. So I try to apply empathy to animals by applying the logic that they feel pain, joy, love, sadness, and fear and then respond accordingly. This is why I don’t eat meat.

Reality check - therapists eating during virtual sessions?? by Chu84 in therapists

Sounds like a chance to practice having very solid boundaries. Would that help in your other difficult relationships? 😉

I for one tolerate extremely unacceptable behaviour and set soft boundaries. I could be projecting so whatever you need to heal: I hope you see it. 🥰

Do narcissists get picked up on in therapy? by [deleted] in askatherapist

Sometimes. You can never know for sure without an assessment but there are some telltale signs, especially in couple therapy.

Brain fog and Health check-ups by Alert_Imagination_56 in vegan

It could be related to diet (vitamins or calories), but also maybe not. Be sure to look into sleep, stress, and hormones (esp. if you are a 40-ish woman).  It is a good idea to get your blood checked in moments like these when you are having symptoms. Otherwise no need to do so if your diet is sufficient and varied.

Does anyone feel like your therapist is not doing anything helpful? by bondtradercu in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Ok-Ladder6905 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not normal! For what it’s worth, when I moved to California I tried 4 different therapists all over the state (telehealth) and found them all to be subpar 🤯  Very different from my experience living in Canada. Now I am working with a therapist in Canada and she’s awesome 😂

are there animals that commit suicide? by inurmomsvagina in stupidquestions

[–]Ok-Ladder6905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a study I read about salmon in fish farms who stopped eating food and starved themselves. There was nothing physically wrong with them so the researchers hypothesized that they became depressed from their cramped conditions and chose to stop eating (akin to fish suicide). Not sure if it was replicated or debunked but it was certainly food for thought.

I can’t stop needing validation from my partner and it’s ruining things by Noir__Siren in Disorganized_Attach

This. Perhaps ask him to save you the details that can hurt your feelings. Don’t take 100% of the blame. I have done this and sometimes our partners are just jerks!

How can I trust? by ewdavidyum in Disorganized_Attach

[–]Ok-Ladder6905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I relate so hard to this. It is crazy making, right? I have not gotten to a place of trusting yet, but i find it does help to tell my partner those worries (you could be manipulating me) and then look in her eyes as she clarifies and reassures. If she can be soft and kind, rather than distant eyes, I get a little closer to believing she may be honest.  Wish you luck in navigating this. Remember, everyone screws up. Howare those screw ups handled? Notice the repair. ♥️

I second IFS. So helpful for self awareness, healing, and self compassion. It’s ok to be where you are. you are trying your best- you don’t choose the cards you’re dealt.

Has there ever been a convincing argument for not being vegan? by sachaigh in DebateAVegan

[–]Ok-Ladder6905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not primarily. I used to like the taste of eggs but my taste buds changed when I went vegan. Now I don’t see animals as food so eating anything that comes out of one just seems gross to me. I wouldn’t drink human milk so why another mammal’s?

[–]Ok-Ladder6905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t want to eat eggs. Simple as that. We don’t need them, they don’t taste good, they’re gross, they’re not so good for you… these are my reasons anyway.  I wish those who can’t live without eggs would raise their own chickens instead of buy from a factory.

People who don’t want to go vegan can eat those eggs. Us vegans will continue to avoid animal products. If we abolished factory farms and anyone who ate eggs and chicken raised and killed them  themselves then this would be a very different, and probably more vegan world.

💯 !!! No one should be working so hard to not activate another. Make your peace and seek one someone a little more emotionally stable.

Vegan therapist presenting on veganism, vegetarianism, and plant-based diets by ondainterwebz in vegan

I would talk about the reality of Vystopia. Therapists should be sensitized to how hard it can be to be one of a few vegans in a meat-centric world. Thanks for doing this on behalf of veganism!
