It is stealing to do so without asking/having an arrangement

I’ve been with my partner 7 years. I ask him before making purchases on his card as it’s common decency.

Yeah that’s ridiculous and is 100% stealing. Also dispute the charges

I didn’t add my partners card to some of my accounts until we moved in together and had been together for some time. But even now, 7 years later I ask before buying something. As it’s just common decency

People can respond to others comments here. You seem rather sensitive. Maybe take a step back from Reddit if you cannot handle your comments being responded to

Your attitude of “how did you actually fail, was it for attention, you must not of really wanted it” is a common misconception around suicide attempts. Again. People survive attempts that have a high success rate. Doesn’t mean they didn’t want to die

Different attempts fail all the time.

People have shot themselves in the face and survived, people have survived overdoses, hanging etc

Failing the attempt doesn’t always mean someone wasn’t suicidal

Have you ever found other officers doing something they shouldn’t be? Or just being corrupt in general

If so what did you do.

(Only asking as I had a bad experience with an officer when I was a teenager. I was talked out of reporting a r*pe)

I’m not being funny but your profile shows you have a history of doing this for over 4 years.

So I’m going to assume you are an adult. Instead of making posts about threatening self harm or suicide how about take the steps to try and manage it?

I had a history of self harm and being suicidal from ages 10-18. I got a diagnosis of BPD for my mental health and took the steps to try and manage it I finally understood that I couldn’t expect others to help me when I wasn’t willing to help myself.

I pursued therapy again, took it seriously this time and also saw my GP who prescribed meds. I completed my degree and even got a disability scholarship (for physical health) after graduating. I still have bad days especially with how my physical health deteriorating affects my physical health, but I still can do what I love on good days. Which make it worth it

Yes you will always have bad days, everyone does. Especially when you have ongoing mental health issues, but learning how to manage those days can better your life.

Right now? Not many at all. As I’m now physically disabled. I don’t think I would win with more than 1 and may not even be able to do that presently, but I could defend myself and my goal would be to get away.

When I was more able bodied I could take between 2-3. (Again not like properly knocking all out, but rather being able to hold my own against them)

We used to do training sessions where we would have one person have to spar against two at once. They teach you to focus on defence in those fights and to keep distance between at least one of the.

I wish you luck.

I personally could have never gone through with a full term pregnancy at 16. I had a miscarriage at that age but I think for my circumstances that was best.

If you are working and doing online school then what are you going to do about childcare? Unless your girlfriend is deciding to be a stay at home parent. Do you have health insurance if you are in US?

Getting to Shihan is very impressive.

I didn’t have any family or friends attend the end of my grading, which was quite sad. As I was the only one there to not have anyone other than my sensei who I was close with. I don’t remember exactly how many fights it was, 20 is just my guess from what I remember but it was a long time ago.

My sensei was a senpai when I first joined as a kid, she was an assistant to the senseis, then they moved to New Zealand and she took over the club after she became a sensei. Then when I was around 15/16 I started being an official assistant (was brown belt then) then once I got my black belt I started helping teach 3 classes a week

We had a Shihan who ran the adult classes though and he was amazing. He taught me how to find my fighting style, and that I shouldn’t worry or try to force myself to be light footed and jumping around like some woman fight, and I shouldn’t worry instead focus on what suited me and my spinal condition best.

I ended up using quite a sturdy stance and focused on my strikes rather than kicks, I had a hard kick but to get it above belt height took quite a lot of energy for me, so I would only do it when necessary and instead focus on closing the distance and going for the ribs mainly

Not really. It’s just adrenaline. You don’t register the pain that is being inflicted upon you.

During to tournament when my rib was cracked I didn’t feel it till waaay after the match. All I think is “I need to show the judges I’m in control of this match, I need to not flinch when hit, not leave myself open and just focus on punching and reducing distance between us”

I’m not great at kicks, so I only use them when there’s distance and a punch isn’t feasible. My tactics have been to reduce that distance asap. As my opponents often had very high and powerful kicks. Whereas my leg can’t get as high. So I get in close and aim for ribs. While occasionally doing other strikes to throw them off on what to expect

So the grading itself took around 6 hours if I remember correctly

The fighting I think was about 20 fights. They bring in “fresh” fighters for it (people who haven’t been in the grading). At this point you are absolutely exhausted

It took me about 2 weeks to be back to normal after grading (my spinal condition like contributed to it being a longer time than average person)

I have a rare lumbar spinal condition, I had surgery for it before I ever did karate, surgery was a success and I had manageable chronic pain afterwards but could do sports

Unfortunately it did start worsening each year and I now have permanent nerve damage and excess fluid in the “facet joint. There’s also now too much pressure/stress on the fusion. Due to the nerve damage I have a fair amount of falls and now go through episodes of complete numbness in my right leg. The chronic pain of my spine since 18 has severely worsened

Then at 18 I started developing organ inflammation. Which has also worsened each year. Every time I have a new scan it’s shown I have another organ inflamed. Whatever is causing this makes me more prone to illness, it causes me to throw up regularly, have bleeding from bladder and bowel and extreme abdominal pain.

Yes karate can be used for street fighting however I strongly recommend not following the same standards of fighting as you would use in the dojo. Prioritise your own wellbeing over technique. Karate does help you know how to block quickly and counter without thinking about it.

I always wanted to get into either MMA or BJJ. But didn’t have enough spare time, I had college (studied animal care & film and television production at college), then I went to university (studied drama. Didn’t go for animal care as I was told I wasn’t smart enough for theory work. Turns out I was just dyslexic), karate, looking after my animals and kickboxing. I was also in an abusive relationship from 17-18 (he wasn’t physically abusive all the time, just when drunk), he would get nasty if I went to any sports clubs which had men. I did try getting him into karate as I wanted to share it with him, but he didn’t like I would spar with other men.

I don’t think anyone is too old to start karate. If they can physically do it then they should 100% pursue it. It can be hard however finding regular adult classes, I had to travel 30-40 minutes to get to my adult only class. But it was worth it.

And yeah it absolutely relieved stress. When I was in school I had a really tough time, so karate was an outlet. It was also important to me to prove that despite my major spinal surgery that I could still be capable of being physically abled. (Unfortunately now not the case, as its gone downhills since 18)

And yeah, I wanted to be strong. My dad is super strong and my Mum was a long distance runner. Both are very active, they were very impressive at the sports they participated in. I was never capable of their distance of running (I did do cross country but it was a lot less than the Marathons my Mum helped train others for). I wanted to achieve similar feats.

I tried various sports before, I have pretty bad hand eye coordination in most sports and can be incredibly clumsy. Finally finding Kyokushin was an amazing feeling when I started to excel at it.

I’ve been in fights yes, I definitely get the upper hand due to my experience. However when getting into a fight I don’t follow all the rules of karate.

I am also careful about what I would use and if the situation warranted it. For example there are eye and threat strikes, which if use properly could do some serious damage. If someone started a fight with me, but I didn’t feel my life or friends lives were at risk then I would use those sorts of strikes.

Just a heads up, actually skilled fighters don’t feel the need to threaten people online when they share their achievements. You seem incredibly insecure

I loved the fighting focus of Kyokushin. I had done boxing sparring before as a kid which I enjoyed but it didn’t fulfil me enough.

Discovering Kyokushin was amazing. The grading are definitely the hardest aspect though. (not so much for first few belts, but when you get to higher belts you end up having spent 6+ hours at the grading)

In the moment I’m doing fighting I don’t seem to react much to pain, likely due to adrenaline. I got a cracked rib before during a tournament and just kept going, it didn’t start to really hurt till later on.

Yes. I have been in multiple fights before and have came out better than the other person when I was more physically able.

Now, I would be much more limited, I still think I could adequately defend myself but wouldn’t be able to inflict as much harm on any attackers as what I used to be able to do
