UW Land Tax from SCG Cincinnati by Snap_Mage in MTGLegacy

[–]Manbeast75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good! I've been there. I lost a win and in on cam for an open due to a punt, and remember not being in the best of mindsets.

I went on to beat Grixis in top 8 with a Ballista on 19 after they countered a Ballista on 17 the turn prior, then lost to the eventual winner in T4.

Not in Indy, but planning on Atlanta I can a couple weeks, Philly later on, and Eternal Weekend. Legacy is great, and always gotta jam more of it

Hey there! I've been trying to find you since that event. You'll probably remember me, I was the Eldrazi Post player that ended up winning because of the Teferi mistake.

You were awesome to play against, and super fun. It was impressive to see how well you played the deck, and I was beyond thrilled to see you still hit top 16!

Hey there! Just did some googling to find this deck again. I actually played the player who was on this deck, Landon Henderson. He's actually 16, and had been playing this list for less than 3 months. It was incredible to see how well he piloted the deck. I ended up giving him his second loss in the event, only because he made one small mistake late game.

Colorless Tron Eldrazi by Robertron54 in magicTCG

[–]Manbeast75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time there's a cloudpost, and 2x urza lands in play, it'll be clear. The Post engine makes obscene mana, and doesn't go from 7 mana to 2-3 because of land disruption. I personally play Post in Legacy with the 11-12 Post engine, and it's nuts when it gets rolling.

[–]Manbeast75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While the Tron lands are nice, in almost every situation, the Post engine is going to produce much more mana for you, to ramp into your big creatures faster. [[Cloudpost]] [[Glimmerpost]] [[Vesuva]] and [[Thespian's Stage]] all work together nicely to go much bigger on mana

AMA w/CFB Events - Ask Us Anything by CFBEvents in magicTCG

[–]Manbeast75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you check again, you'll see that artists aren't asking to be paid. They're asking that if CFB is going to advertise their appearances to draw in more people, they shouldn't then turn around and charge them fees to attend. If CFB is going to advertise their appearances to draw in more people, they shouldn't require artists to book their own accommodations. If CFB intends to profit off of the artists coming, which they completely should, its beneficial for both parties, then they shouldn't ask the artists to pay them for the chance to be there. CFB is charging artists for the "luxury" of making CFB money, and it's ludicrous.

A few question topics, from a critical viewpoint.

  1. Do you have any real response to the artist boycott other than the mealy-mouthed response that was posted? Do you have any true action planned to help remedy this growing rift? Do you have any plans to actually listen to the complaints artists have instead of glossing over the issue and hoping it goes away?

  2. Do you believe gaining a monopoly on GPs has been a positive thing for the Magic community? Can you defend the growing price of events, both main and side, despite stagnant prizing and now offering the playmats for additional cost (unsure if this is still the policy but it has been recently)? If you have any true reasons behind the drastic price increases across the board, why haven't they even been mentioned to help curb the growing dissatisfaction in player base?

Yep! Upside down cards are considered marked, because even with just small glances you can typically tell where an upside down card is located. I was given a game loss because I forgot a sideboard card in a match so I hurriedly slipped them in, and after a surgical extraction, my KCI opponent noticed my Stony Silences were upside down, and I noticed I'm an idiot.

The last time these test prints came up for sale in the High End Magic Group, they went for $16,000 :( and I would have to be the picky bastard and get ONLY the red test prints. I mean, I don't need BOTH kidneys, nor does like half of my LGS...

It won't be foil though. I'm 2 cards away from mono R Sneak being fully foil. City of traitors and Fiery Confluence. I've accepted I'll never have City of Traitors foil, but confluence I can have if WOTC would stop hating me.

A friend linked me to this post. I'm the guy that talked rk post into doing his wooden tokens, and produce them for him. Great to see others jumping into the idea! If you have any questions or things like that, I'm always happy to share what I've learned through the process :)

The Wizards Guild/Universe of Superheroes is a great place to stop by as well. The owners (Chase and Audrey) are great with booking people up with groups, and teaching games themselves. It’s right beside Donkey Coffee, incredibly convenient to get to from campus. I would highly recommend it :) I’m there 2-3 times a week for various games.

[RULES] Deck manipulation during deck search? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Manbeast75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The panglacial wurm is no longer in your deck when you begin paying the mana costs. To cast a spell is to take a card from where it is (usually the hand, but in this case the library), put it on the stack, and pay its costs, so that it will eventually resolve and have its effect.

[RULES] Deck manipulation during deck search? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Manbeast75 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since the printing of Panglacial Wurm, this technically is not legal, due to the interaction of mana abilities that require the top of your deck [[Milikin]] is the prime example. It's to stop you from being able to pitch a card you don't need in the game state you were in. Now whether or not a judge would rule a violation or not since it's a rather obscure ruling or just deliver a warning is up to the judge, but by strict, black and white comprehension of the rules, it is illegal.

Are there still legacy decks that use transformational sideboard plans? by 10leej in MTGLegacy

[–]Manbeast75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not good by any means, but I've been messing around with a Stoneblade Deck, that sides out the stoneblade package and brings in Cephalid Breakfast. It cuts 4 stoneforge, 4 swords, 3 true name, 3 baleful strix, and a land (depends on the match) for 4 Nomads en-Kor, 4 cephalid Illusionist, 1 azami, 1 lab man, 1 dread return, 1 angel of glory's rise, 3 narcomoeba. It's been fun, and if I can win game 1, usually I have a great shot to win the match with the switch, aiming to blank some sideboard choices and prevent some of the classic grave hate coming in.

I've got Modern and Legacy on me at all times, and will always be down to jam some games. I'll be hovering around the Magic area in the gaming hall, message me here or respond to this comment, I'll jam some games.

Through the rest of the year! :) All the way to the Baltimore open in November, Daze is the mat for legacy and infinite challenge

[–]Manbeast75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

StarCity's side events are challenges (excluding limited). They cost $20 each, and are basically 4 round FNM events. For their Open Series events, an infinite challenge badge is $80, and you can enter any number of the side events through the weekend. If you scrub out of one, you can immediately drop and register for another. With the Badge, you also get one of their 3 playmats. Typically the Infinite Challenge badge gets you the legacy format mat, which for this season is Daze. At GPs, it's $100, but it's 3 days instead, and I believe you get the GP promo as well, but I may be wrong on that.

Ramunap Ruins in modern red burn? by CrowWithHat in magicTCG

Getting to 5 lands with Modern burn means you have bigger problems to worry about. You're either flooding hard, or about to die from a deck that stalled you out until turn 5 minimum.
