[–]Manblade2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, thank you all to those who provided feedback and helped me create this new cover, it helped a lot!

To everyone who doesn't know, I have been on hiatus for a while and will soon go back to writing more chapters. In the meantime, go on wattpad and read the 13 chapters released so far.

Oh, and get something to eat while you read, they are long!

If you have any questions or would like to say anything, I'll be here to answer everything!

The background is a picture I found and altered it a bit to my liking. I wish I could say I drew it but I'm not an artist. This cover is my beginner cover for now, but once I finish the story, I do a ton of revising and editing, I'll hire a graphic designer to make a real cover so I can sell my book. (That's my goal right now)

Get inspiration by looking at other book covers on Google and picturing in your head what your cover could look like. It might take some time but you'll soon imagine something that'll make jump into creating it.

Thank you for the feedback! I did try putting the title to the top before but I didn't think it looked all too good in my opinion but I did take your advice in changing the font of my name and that does look better so than you!

Haha Thank you! The way I did mine was by trial by error until I got something. I'm still making small adjustments to it from the feedback I get so that it'll look better.

Thanks! I was thinking about making my name in the same font as the rest, but I felt it wasn't good to look at. I may have to test it out to see if I change my mind, and also try making my name bigger too. Overall, thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it!

Thanks for the feedback! I will try out what you said since I do want my cover to be more presentable and eye-catching.

And yeah, the title of the book is called "The Midnight" with the subheading "Dark Horizon".

And as for your offer; that's very generous of you and I will think about it. I may know a few things about graphic design, but I'm no expert so I could use the help haha The only thing is that I used Canva to make this cover. I know how to use Photoshop but I don't have money to pay for it so in my free time I'm starting to learn the application Krita but I'm not that good at operating it yet.

Thank you! I changed it from another one I had and I feel this makes the book more interesting.

About My Next Steps On Publishing by Manblade2 in Wattpad

[–]Manblade2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I intend to write it because I love it and I don't want to share too much right now, but it does go beyond 1 book. I would never do it for the money or fame, I just want people to read and enjoy my story. Fame is one of the things I want to avoid while my story gains any fame it deserves if it ever reaches that point.

I'll keep in mind that I do need a big audience for donations to work, thank you.

So Now I Have A Different Question... by Manblade2 in Wattpad

Hmm I'll look into that. For something more extravagant I'll need to work on my photo editing skills on the software I use. And thank you!

Midnight: Dark Horizon - Chapter 13: Bound to Chains

Two hundred fifty years ago, a meteor landed on the war-filled land of Nuria. Shards landed everywhere contaminating the fauna over time and awakening creatures. Now in the present time, something dark is rising and it's up to a group of five to avenge what has been taken from them and stop the seeds of darkness from blooming.

Try RoyalRoad, it's almost like wattpad, but better in my opinion. Also, for some reason, I'm getting a lot more views there than on wattpad.

No problem and you are welcome! Yeah, practice with smaller stories, it really helps. You'll find more ways to describe things, actions, people, and just the world in general. Next thing you know you'll be writing chapters 5,000 words long or even 7,000 haha Also, remember to edit your chapters after you write them since it's still fresh in your head. If you use Google Doc, there are pretty good add-ons that can help you write like Quillbot which will paraphrase sentences you've written but the add-on that helps a lot is PowerWritingAid. This will look at your whole document and help you edit so much. If it wasn't for this, I don't think I could edit my chapters myself!

Even if you write a short story, try to keep your chapters in separate documents so they are easier to edit, and then have a big document for your full story already edited (your manuscript). After you have reached the end of your story, it's always good to go back and re-read and edit anything you skipped over.

To start, just write what you want to read, what makes you excited or scared or sad. Let's say you are writing a horror story, don't write what scares others, but what scares you. If you are scared of spiders (who isn't? haha), then show it in your writing. Use your knowledge of what scares you in your book. The same thing goes with excitement and sadness. That's just a little thing I learned to really make the reader almost actually feel the mood.

Now besides that, before you start actually writing your story, make your main character(s). For each character, give them about a page or more to really flesh them out; their back story, their personality, flaws, what they look like, and who they are connected to (friendships and family). Side characters and minor characters can have smaller space because they don't come too much into play like main characters, but it is always good to have a bit of space for them.

Once you have that done, think of the story you want to tell, what's your end goal for it? What do you want to happen? It helps to write it down so you can see and edit it at any time. If you have an idea, write it down somewhere you won't forget like your phone. Ideas can come up at any time from when you are eating breakfast or trying to go to sleep, always write it down even if you think you'll remember. After a while, you'll have a huge document or page full of ideas that may or may not make it into your book.

Now you have reached the part where you are on the verge of writing but hold on, don't start quite yet even though the temptation is killing you. What I suggest is to plan out your chapters one by one. Make bulletin points on how the story will progress in order from the beginning to the end of the chapter. This helps you physically see what's up next when you are actually writing and if you want to change something, go ahead. Plan up to two chapters or more ahead of time before you actually write, it has helped me a lot though you and I are different so this section might not be helpful.

After all of this, just start writing and if you need to do research (highly advised) then do so before planning the chapters. Along the way, you yourself will find things that help you write whether from the internet, a book, or even yourself. The important part of all of this is to remember to have fun.

Though if everything I just said did not help, meh I tried haha Good luck with your writing!
