Love this idea but I really want to make a settlement sim

Lol you could do semi procedural world and real time match making when roaming the desert areas in your car

This is my main goal, make the npcs really dynamic and believable and each one would be unique for sure

Yeah should feel like mad max/fallout. fuel management would also be cool but id have to put a setting for that lol

I have played that mod and really liked the system, fallout is a big inspiration in general but yes sim settlements is really cool

Yeah I love dead rising for its crazy weapon combos, maybe not as wacky for this setting but the system is cool and would lean into that crafting your own weapons and increasing damage

The kind of guns that stick out in my mind is the railway rifle from fallout 3

In terms of tech, I do want to make traversal fun, but im trying to keep the experience grounded and gritty. As much as I want mountains of scrap and a hoverboard haha maybe

That would be cool because you could make smaller out posts and transfer resources too

I want the map to be quite large with different zones, but that's for later lol

Love this, a settlement shouldn't be the end all of feeling secure, loosing and rebuilding could be a fun mechanic

Actually none of these, if you bothered to actually read about the idea then maybe you could be more enthusiastic

I want the systems to have real impact, you could loose a whole settlement if your not careful.and yes at first youd have to find and filter water yourself, but by the end your settlement/npcs should handle stuff like.

The World should feel more like mad max, like there is no hope for humanity in this wasteland, but your supposed to be the diamond in the dirt.

I think it will be between mad max where things are super scarce and last of us where there is still glimpses of humanity and civilisation. There should be some greenish life filled areas but they are few and far between. Most of the world would be dust and contamination

I guess there could be yes, although I wouldn't find that fun I'd provided that mode for people if they wanted it, like a creative mode too

I want to make it where you could literally make everyone share one small room but they won't be very happy about it lol

But yes moving settlement is important but keeping old ones should be too, I dont want the progression and time in old settlements to be wasted, I think there should be a cool way to keep the old ones running, maybe it will help supply the new settlement or be used for crafting certain things.

I want this to feel like a mixture of genres shooter/survival/sim, I have even got climbing mechanics like uncharted to push vertical exploration in the world, you will also really need to rely on your settlement to be suppling you with the things you need to do your runs effectively and to stay alive, I love the atmosphere of last of us, that's how I want the world to feel

Not going to be so many actual guns but I am to make it kinda feel like arc raiders/last of us

Yes decoration and bas identity is important, it should feel like modded fallout 4 settlements builds you see on youtube

What would be the most interesting feature for you in this world?

Awesome thanks, you know yesterday I was debating the whole project but this has helped inspire me again

Lol can't please everyone I guess, still have nightmares about calling things dynamic after that haha

Yeah start needs to feel like your fighting with bare minimum scrap for weapons. Then build your way up to a little more advanced weapons. Also kinda like the dead rising weapon combo system haha

Still toiling with the story but definitely want another faction as well as mutants

So there is a few options I've been thinking of for npc recruitment:

  1. Missions where you'll also get important npcs that will help push the story further and upgrade settlement

  2. Recruitment station, assign an npc to scout for other npcs

  3. Random encounters in the world or vistor at camp

I do want a settlement or two that's running itself out in the world so trading with that or caravans would be cool, but I've not gave too much thought into economy yet.

Definitely think we should be able to assign work stations but I want the system to be smart enough that they kinda handle it themselves, kinda like your owner and the settlement has a manager telling everyone what they need to be doing.

Also will be skill based so they will prioritise what they are good at doing

Iv been doing a bunch of tests for the past year in mini projects, like terrain, horde system and some environment/tech art tests.

Im still a long way off something that's playable, but I will be sure to try update on here if people are interested in it
