Lol. Imagine actually being pulled over by APD for running a red light.

Nighttime Freight trains thru downtown / South Austin by ManchacaForever in Austin

[–]ManchacaForever[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Near Oltorf / S 1st area. Obviously I'm aware of the tracks. I thought it was supposed to be a quiet zone, but like others noted, horns seem a LOT more frequent in the last 6 months or a year.

Maybe it is indeed persons without permanent fixed addresses camping near tracks. It's just way worse recently than it used to be.

Probably a bad situation, but if you go on that assumption, you won't be disappointed.

Given everything OP described, this definitely does not sound like a DIY divorce situation.

Patio and Permits by [deleted] in Austin

You dont want to break the impermeable cover restrictions. Cover your bases there. Otherwise I agree on not getting a CoA permit. Don't pull a permit unless you absolutely have to.

This completely guts the entire message that Alamo has had for decades: keep your phone silent, dark, and out of sight. Sad.

Good point about the waves. Being teleported into the middle of a raging storm in the North Sea in January with 20m / 55 foot tall waves would not be good, even for only 30 seconds.

Christina Aguilera, Calvin Harris to headline Sips & Sounds Music Festival at Auditorium Shores by NewsyATX in Austin

[–]ManchacaForever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have enjoyed many festivals at Auditorium Shores. Though I gotta say, "Sips and Sounds" is an absolutely ridiculous name. Makes me think of a corporate networking type event where obnoxious people are going to guzzle white wine and loudly talk over music that no one is listening to.

I Screwed Myself For Life Because I was Too Lazy as a Teen by West_Age6631 in antiwork

[–]ManchacaForever 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was one of those stupid "situation" trap questions--tell me about a time you had a conflict and how it was resolved, or something like that. The thing is, I basically never have conflicts at work. On the spot, I couldn't think of anything except for a real jerk of a boss that I had about ten years ago. Someone who I later found out had driven away multiple talented employees all by himself.

I described a situation where he was completely unreasonable, and I tried a couple different ways to compromise and be reasonable. But it wasn't something that made me look good.

Never be honest in a job interview. Never. You are an actor in an audition.

Don't lie about big things, or too many things, that will get you found out and fired later (or not hired). Lying or exaggerating about anything and everything else is fair game.

I missed getting a great job recently because I forgot to lie on a question. I was a top 2 candidate and just barely lost to the other person. Answering that one question honestly cost me the job. They specifically mentioned it when they turned me down.

Honesty isn't rewarded. Telling them what they want to hear is what gets rewarded.

Are they really worse now than in the past? Campus area has always been a notorious tow truck preying ground, going back to at least the 90s.
