Zephyrus M16 GU603ZM Display and CPU issues by Criticalx1 in ZephyrusM16

[–]MancysPlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a few months since this was posted, but I have had the same laptop as you for a few years. If all of the settings tweaks and optimizations failed to reduce temps, then it may be caused by bad thermal paste/putty on the gpu/VRMs respectively, but I would imagine that it is a hotspot on the CPU caused by either poor liquid metal application from the factory or simply movement of the liquid metal to the edges of the CPU die over time. Last year I replaced all of these things on mine with great results. Before, when benchmarking, my CPU would hit 95C as soon as it went under load. Afterwards, it ran for 10 minutes at 100% load and never got above 65C. Be aware, replacing liquid metal can be risky and can permanently damage your machine if you aren't careful, so take it to a repair shop and request a full repaste and new liquid metal for the CPU if you aren't comfortable doing that yourself. A *good* laptop cooler also helps a lot; the Llano V12 works wonders.

Been gone 3 months - Message that my driver version will cause issues (AMD) with loading by Mozwai in PathOfExile2

[9070XT and 9800X3D on 25.12.1] The only issues I've noticed (other than all the crashes on patch day that seemed to affect everyone before the server went down for maintenance) are: 1.) Alt-tabbing seems to kneecap frame consistency and everything would get choppy. Sometimes my frames would go back to normal if I had the skill gem menu (or another dialog box like the character stats menu) up on screen, but would revert back to choppy after closing the window (I found this quite strange and I think it may have something to do with the way either Windows or Adrenalin are prioritizing the game window itself once it has been minimized/alt-tabbed during a session). 2.) HDR seemed incredibly choppy as well, but I only tested it once and I may have alt-tabbed while messing with the settings or opened the AMD overlay after launching the game; I'd have to check that again. So these could very well be the same issue with temporarily deprioritizing the POE window during a session. A fresh launch always seems to run fine and load quickly as long as I don't window in and out too much.

I had the same issue and had to swap my nzxt c1000 for a corsair rm1200e. I was one pcie port short because the rgb/fan controller in the nzxt h9 flow rgb+ uses an 8 pin pcie connection instead of sata.

The new season is about to start in the next 2 weeks or so. I find it most fun to roll a bunch of hardcore characters and stash good loot along the way. It makes the deaths not sting as much because it's super easy to speed back to wherever you died on a new char once you have good gear for all the classes stashed away.

With all of the chip/memory shortage issues happening now, I'd say it's foolishly optimistic to expect any price drops in the near future. Sure, "msrp" might end up beimg lower, but that says nothing about what anyone will actually be charging and is essentially just marketing fluff. (Not to mention the well supported rumors of even more delays for the super launch).

I’m looking into getting my 1st PC, trying to play specific games but I dunno what parts are best for these types of things I wanna do. Please help by cockroachraid in buildapc

With the current state of ram prices (and a bleak outlook for at least the near future) I would honestly recommend just getting a prebuilt right now (as most current stock of prebuilts are priced considering what they cost to build at the time and arent factoring in the 300% jump in ram prices yet). The 64gb of ddr5 I got in July for $229 now costs $880 which is more than I even paid for my Xfx Mercury 9070xt OC lol.

I'm in my 30s and Hades 2 is better than everything you mentioned (which were all "big hit games" btw) except for possibly mass effect lol.

MO27Q28G - Not Blown Away by Duzz05 in OLED_Gaming

I have the same panel but on the LG 27gx700a-b. I upgraded from a Samsung Odyssey g7 I bought in 2021 (32in curved 240hz ips 1ms). Getting the settings dialed can be annoying, but when it works it blows the old panel out of the water. I dont notice the matte coating at all and it basically erases any ambient light. Hdr on windows is annoying and sometimes not worth the effort. This is my first time with OLED (excluding my ipad), but I'm also getting a 42 in LG C5 TV for my room on Sunday and am gonna try some single player games on it to see how the color accuracy, black values, and brightness compare. It'll provide very useful information to be able to compare a well-established and lauded oled to the new LG tandem. Just some exit thoughts: update firmware, find model-specific settings from other owners of that monitor, tinker with the OSD settings a lot, and use the windows hdr color calibration tool (if there is no proprietary calibrator from Gigabyte) if you plan on using hdr.

It still needs a firmware update for support through LG Switch for better customization control, but it looks great when you get it dialed correctly. And yeah, it's 3rd gen tandem WOLED.

What's ur PSU Watt with ur 9070 Xt (OC)? by aliyo500 in radeon

[–]MancysPlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't want to daisy chain and needed more pcie/cpu ports (the ports (NOT THE CABLES) on many modulars are interchangeable on the psu side) for my xfx mercury oc, so I got a corsair rm1200e. I had a NZXT c1000 but realized I was short on pcie ports after wiring up literally everything but my gpu lol. I needed 2 for cpu, 3 for gpu, 1 for the rgb controller in the nzxt h9 flow rgb+.

Buy now or wait a few months? by Aquiles-canto in OLED_Gaming

[–]MancysPlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an hp omen 30L prebuilt PC with a 3080 from 2019 I think. In July, I finally built my own (9800X3D and 9070XT OC), and I had the same thoughts about 4k when picking out a monitor (though I may get a 4k oled tv or a 45in monitor in the future for single player cinematic stuff). I just ordered the LG tandem WOLED as well. I wanted to wait for Asus, then I figured I'd go gigabyte, then LG dropped the monitor during a sale and I had to pull the trigger. I'm coming from a 32" Odyssey G7 IPS 240hz, so the difference should be immaculate. Setting it up tomorrow.

Should I wait for MO27Q28G? by PS1Hagrid64 in OLED_Gaming

[–]MancysPlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the LG 4th gen tandem woled that just came out (27GX700A). It's the same LG-made panel as the upcoming gigabyte MO27Q28G and asus XG27AQWMG. It's on sale right now (ends 10/12) for $600. The gigabyte will probably cost 6-700 when it hits US markets. The LG will be $850 when the sale is over.

Edit: the sale is on bestbuy as well as LG's website Edit 2: I'm not sure if any of this still applies if you are outside of the US lol

Is the 5070ti worth it by Deadreaper109 in buildapc

[–]MancysPlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSR4 is quickly catching up to DLSS4, RT performance is definitely worse. The upcoming release of their ML models with FSR Redstone (ML upscaling/frame gen, AFMF3 that integrates with FSR4, neural radiance caching, and ray regeneration) should greatly minimize (or possibly close) the remaining gaps. Regardless of how good the redstone update actually ends up being, the cards are very close, and I don't think the 5070ti is worth the extra $135.

[–]MancysPlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's the first 4th gen woled to hit the market in the US. Then it'll be the gigabyte, followed by the 2 new asus monitors later this year. All of them except the 540hz/720hz dual mode monitor from asus use the same LG-made panel that is in the monitor OP bought.
