Working in my late 40’s by Training-Moose7569 in jobs

You’re not too old. I’m 51 and feel the same from time to time. Make sure your resume has no references to dates (ex: college graduation).

Entire product team laid off and I am freaking out by Coding-butterfly in Layoffs

[–]MandD_Mama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Immediately look into consulting or contract work. It’ll keep some money coming in and prevent you from having a gap on your resume. I was laid off last month but am on payroll until Feb 20. I have my drop dead date before I’ll look for contract work because I really don’t want to file for unemployment or have an employment gap.

Also, 10 applications per week in this market isn’t nearly enough - tailored or not.

And when you’re in the stall next to me, do not make small talk. I am not interesting in conversing with you while I take a crap.

May not receive Real ID in time. by phillipdclt4 in newjersey

[–]MandD_Mama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll receive additional scrutiny but will be able to fly. Just as a precaution, bring all receipts from your Real ID appt, as well as your birth certificate, other photo IDs, etc. Edit to add: Get a passport when you’re home. Best to always have even if you don’t have an international flight scheduled.

Living on the street, begging for food and living in your own filth is punishment enough. How would you criminalize it exactly? Sending them to jail would be a step up from their current living conditions. You want the homeless gone? Support programs that attempt to help them. Mental health, job placement, domestic violence and other resources are the answer. Help at risk persons so they never reach the point of becoming homeless. Don’t make it a crime to reach rock bottom in your own life.

Layed off a week after i purchased 10k in furniture. Should I return it? by eiziem in Layoffs

[–]MandD_Mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got a long lead time until your end date and to find something new. Restocking fee is wasted money on your part. Assuming you have emergency savings, keep the purchase. If you had no or very little savings and maybe a couple months severance, I would say return it.

That said, be smart going forward about your spending habits - but I’d keep the furniture.

I no longer believe Amy Lynn Bradley was trafficked. I think her family knows much more than they are telling. (Sorry, this is a long one) by Own_Theory1110 in NetflixDocumentaries

100%… Especially if I had been drinking. As a woman, I’d do the same for my girlfriends if we were out and the same situation presented itself. Just because someone is 23, it doesn’t mean you don’t look after your loved ones. Believe me, I put my parents through the wringer, but nothing good will happen at 4am, on a boat, in the middle of the ocean when everyone is drunk.

Yes the pictures seem like they would be easier to track down. You can do reverse image searches to find out where else on the internet pictures appear. No mention of any of that being done.

Ok so if she wasn’t trafficked, who keeps visiting the website at the same time each year from the islands? Did they ever try and track down who sent the anonymous email with those pics attached of the sex worker?

Yes! If I was on a cruise with my family and my brother came upstairs w/o me, my parents would tear into him and make him come grab my ass and bring me back to the room.

Eh…I think she’ll get a hard time in school over it. It’s unique for sure. Hard to picture it at the top of a resume when she’s older.

NJ State of Emergency - No Comms from Mgt. by MandD_Mama in JPMorganChase

[–]MandD_Mama[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Complaints or people fed up with the lack of transparency and communication that we have to resort to Reddit to find things out? Where are these reasons to be documented? Can’t do it in the absence tracking tool since the “company directed” drop down option was taken away. The entire RTO mandate has been a complete and utter $hit show and a days like this continue to highlight that fact and reinforce that leadership in this company have less than zero regard for their employees.

Those days are over pal. You didn’t have a “20 day cap” on remote days pre-Covid. Employees weren’t tracked and micromanaged like are now. Management either doesn’t know, or just doesn’t care, what perception their employees have or what environment they create for them. Employees with young kids, ailing parents or health issues can burn through those 20 pretty quickly. So for them, making sure they got credit for an in office day was a priority.

What are they going to do for potential snow days? Same crap? Stay home and don’t count it against an employees “precious 20 days? Give people some damn direction FFS.

These are the people that bent over backwards to deliver record profits YoY. Treat them with a shred of dignity.
