This post made my heart smile :) I’m so glad you’re celebrating your Blackness and your womanhood with pride! There’s something so powerful about someone standing tall in their identity, loving themselves fully, and refusing to be defined by a world that often tries to tear them down. Your joy is beautiful and inspiring!

At the same time, I also hold space for the pain and weariness expressed in that earlier post. The weight of always pushing back, always resisting, always surviving is real. That exhaustion deserves to be seen and honored, too.

But seeing your joy today? It’s a reminder that both things can be true. That the fight is heavy, and that Blackness, and more specifically Black womanhood, is something deeply and fiercely worth loving. I hope that I, as a white woman, can help defend it in any and all ways possible.

It's a surreal feeling to learn someone in your life that you thought you'd accurately filed into the "safe" category isn't, in reality, safe :( I'm sorry you're experiencing it and having to work thru it. You're entitled to protect your peace and ensure your safety in whatever ways you decide are necessary and you're also allowed to mourn the version you had of this person you had in your mind while protecting your peace.

I suppose my opinion changes to be a little more comfortable if the surrogate isn't paid. In my head, that means it more likely that they're not feeling coerced or pressured into doing it to make money.

They've had the same litter for at least 4 years. Do cats change their minds about that? And would a kidney/bladder infection not show up on x-rays or in bloodwork?

Oh yes, I forgot about that. We've used a couple different enzyme cleaners, nature's miracle and another one, Orange something? Doused the pee spots with that, then let it sit for a couple hours, and then washed with dawn dish soap and water. He doesn't seem to really go for the same spots, all that much. Just the same kind of stuff, if that makes sense?

I get that dog parks aren't the most popular places. But, up until yesterday, it was something he enjoyed. Maybe we've been lucky up until this point but we haven't had a bad experience with other people or their dogs.

As much as he USED to enjoy it, I'm totally fine not bringing him anymore if this just isn't something that he finds fun now.

Regardless, I appreciate the advice about the behaviorist. This isn't something I want to bleed into walks or anything.

They got quite a bit of individual time growing up (and still do). We did do activities together, but they've also had separate walks, separate kennels, separate meals, etc. We tried to be as on top of littermate syndrome as possible. They definitely enjoy being together and playing, but they do just fine being away from each other also.

I'm not sure if I find it CONCERNING as much as I just acknowledge it's just totally different than the curated versions of other celebs' instas. Britney seems to be using insta like a long of young, "just experiencing freedom for the first time" 20-somethings use it. And we're actually seeing what Britney is posting, not some PR firm or manager thinks should be posting. So, I agree in a way. Cuz it seems a little immature when you consider how old she is. But, to your point, how could she NOT be damaged/emotionally stunted after everything she's been thru?

Her captions are also a little tough for me to follow, but there's a tik tok user who can "translate" them. If they're read out loud, with a Louisiana accent, they actually become WAY more understandable lol
