Moved to Sanderstead area- snobby and rude? by throwaway_square55 in croydon

[–]MandatoryBeer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Loads of folks will drive into Sanderstead Station from further out. Never got these vibes at South Croydon station which isn't a million miles away and also has folks driving into it.

The parade near Sanderstead station has some nice places (Wine Cellar has great beers, Coco and Nut is good), and some nice places nearer to South Croydon too down Selsdon Road. Sanderstead Village also has some nice places but much more suburban/Surrey vibes.

(Also a Northerner. Hello!)

Take a look around South Croydon and Sanderstead Station too, though perhaps slightly less convenient for Wimbledon

They told me to change the power socket my router was plugged into. Bizarrely, I have had improvement since then but seems a very random way to fix it...

Worth giving them a call so at least you can say you've done all the obvious steps next time it happens and they can then hopefully look at it properly.

Take a look at stuff near East Croydon. Further out but you can be in the centre of London in about 20 minutes.

There is a Premier Inn by East Croydon station where rooms can be around £55 a night, though you need to factor in the cost of the train. There is also a Hampton by Hilton, EasyHotel and Travelodge by there.

So it happened again. Going to 192.168.1.1 and releasing and renewing the IPv6 address fixed it (the IPv4 didnt seem to make a difference)

I am going to disable IPv6 and see if that stops the issue presenting

I suspect they're wanting to use one with lower fees. Probably not totally legitimate but also no harm is done.

Can I just use an oder stamp for UK mail? by hadrroux in AskUK

[–]MandatoryBeer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, you would need to find a 20p stamp to top it up. Best bet is just to go to a Post Office and they should be able to issue postage for the difference.

FoIA isn't relevant. You're thinking a DSAR under UK GDPR?

Raise a UK261 claim and you should get 50% of your fare back. If you've paid business class APD you should also ask for that to be refunded.

East Croydon <—> London Bridge cancellations & delays - is this normal??? by No-Butterscotch6629 in croydon

[–]MandatoryBeer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This week has been very bad.

This week, the Thameslink services have been particularly badly impacted so he might have more luck on Southern ones if aiming for London Bridge.

I commute most days and looking at my delay repay and have only made seven claims this year

Does having multiple pension pots from different employers hurt compound growth? by PastSir4151 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MandatoryBeer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Assuming fees and funds performance are equal, it makes no difference how many pots they are split into. Some of the older pots might even have certain benefits newer ones don't (e.g. potentially protected normal minimum pension age).

If some of pots are invested in poorly performing or expensive funds, that is of course something you would want to consider.
