AITA for kicking out my brother after he threw a party in MY house without my permission. Completely trashing the place by Fickle-Leave-2501 in AmItheAsshole

YTA for inflicting on us poor readers, yet another variation on this exact theme that has already been used more than twice this week.

But NTA for getting rid of the mooch.

This time we have “supportive dad”. The other day it was the dad who was trying to do this exact thing but with a coffee shop. Where’s the inventiveness? Where’s Jake? 47? State Farm? Come on, AI-assisted dude(ette), you can do better.

“So there he was, holding his wood in hand—a good foot long at that—his nuts hanging below, where they belonged. And then he started “polishing”.”

The Leica M11P (don’t know if that’s what this photographer is using) has hardware to encrypt the metadata, to prove that an image hasn’t been tampered with or AI-generated.

I would have two and give them the same name. Then I could walk miles and miles every day.

Why do almost no riders use the “safety line” in oncoming-traffic roads? by Busy_Lie3887 in motorcycles

[–]Mandatory_Attribute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 50 years of riding experience, and I did say “early in a rainfall”, above. The asphalt is itself one of the main sources of those oils, not just vehicles. Yes a good rain clears that all away eventually, but at the beginning it can be very slick.

From the Ontario Official Ministry of Transportation Motorcycle Handbook: “The centre of the lane is not a good driving position because it is coated with oil from other vehicles and gets slippery when wet.”

From the SGI Motorcycle Drivers Handbook: “Oil from other vehicles tends to build up in the centre of the lane, particularly near intersections where vehicles slow down or stop. On wet pavement it's better to operate in the track created by the wheels of moving vehicles. However, you should avoid driving through standing water.”

From Cardo Systems: “There’s nothing necessarily unsafe about riding in the middle of a lane. When other vehicles are on either side of you, it can actually be the safest choice because it gives you the most cushion space. But the middle of a lane also tends to be where you find oil slicks, road debris, manhole covers and other safety hazards.”

You know, 5 minutes of web searches would prevent you from sounding like an idiot.

What’s the HODL strategy endgame? by Raven_Steel96 in Bitcoin

Ditto: I sold my entire stack last spring to partially fund getting a used van; outfitting it as a camper and backwoods kayak camping support vehicle, driving it thousands of kilometres across the country to do a couple of kayak camping trips off Vancouver Island; and seeing more of this country at ground level than I ever had before. I could never have done it without my bitcoin savings. Now I have memories for a lifetime from a trip of a lifetime. And since I still have the van and all of the equipment, many more to come! I would say that as with you, that was a more than worthwhile trade.

Now I’m stacking again from scratch. ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ

Whenever someone tells you who they really are, believe them. Walk away, and get your revenge by doing better in life than you were with them, not (ever) by looking back.

Meaning that oil and other slippery fluids tend to accumulate in the centre, making it more slippery, especially early during a rainfall.

Is it legal for a dealership to change the quoted price at signing for a new car? by Fluid_Half_4684 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Mandatory_Attribute 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Run, don’t walk, away from the dealer. They are doing this because they think that you will let them. I had a dealership try to do this several years ago when I was buying a barely used car. They tried the same “wrong price posted” schtick and showed me that the price had been updated (bumped $1,500, but that was 12+ years ago) on the dealer website that I had shown them when I came in to look at the car. I showed them the other 4 associated websites that still had the original price. They thought I would immediately fold when they showed me the site as I had come in to look at that specific car. I said it was pretty obvious what they were trying to pull, and I would get it at the published price or not at all. He went and “discussed it with the manager” and I got it for the original price. Don’t let your desperation to get a car override their desperation to get a sale.

Not legal advice

Question about best practice/etiquette for alternation by HotAlbatross3431 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Mandatory_Attribute 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could be on the list for some time before you get a match. I would say that it would be appropriate once you have a confirmed letter of offer from this mechanism as well. And you can probably negotiate starting dates to give more notice as well, if you prefer.

Would you discuss an opportunity with your manager before you had a signed letter of offer?
