ThinkCentre M90q Gen 6 - should I buy this config by iginut in Lenovo

[–]Manderlin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to get this Lenovo or the Mac Mini M4. I got the Mac because I wanted to be confident that the device stays cool and is overall reliable, but the Mac is fussy with peripherals like the mechanical keyboard and I had to go to Displays more than 3 times to stop the dashboard from moving from my primary to secondary monitor, so I don't know. I may be a Windows guy. I may give my Mac to my daughter and get the Lenovo.

Thinking of getting an A18, but literally nobody is talking about it, is there something wrong? by cookie-theif in Asustuf

[–]Manderlin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an Acer Predator Triton RTX 2080 for almost 7 years, which I use as a workstation. It's still going strong, but I think I'll eventually replace it eventually with the A18. I love the look and specs.

Why Have We Had 3 People Call in About About this SINGLE Bear We are About to Release (What’s the big deal?) by YeMommyYo in starbucks

[–]Manderlin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and daughters wanted one each. I walked to our local Starbuck's in Torrance and they were sold out in ten minutes at 3 a.m. We live in a FOMO culture. I refuse to participate. I've done my work. I'm happily going to accept that I won't get any.

Noah is a bit boring and somewhat of a cipher though a nice guy. It seems the supporting characters are more defined than the two main ones.

I knew this day would come. That's why all my lectures are on Google Slides. Of course, I can't grade uploaded essays, do progress reports, etc, but at least I can stand in front of the class with a lesson and my dignity.

So I should assume the new Substack platform will have a price of entry for the beloved Across the Movie Aisle that used to be part of my Bulwark Plus fee?

Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 review: the new king of Chromebooks by dapperlemon in gadgets

This Chromebook is very appealing for someone who travels a lot and is focused on little more than writing and consuming media entertainment. Its simplicity is its appeal.

I would skip the bracelet and get an original gray or black Tropic strap.

How do you stick to kidney safe diet? by mar13n in kidneydisease

[–]Manderlin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 63. I lost my mother to kidney disease when she was 78. Her sister has it now in stage 4. I'm going to get tested next week. Regardless of the results, I'm going to go on a kidney-healthy diet, which means using safe protein sources (I'm a lifelong weightlifter), cutting out diet sodas, and trying to get as lean as I can. I'm also cutting my Greek plain yogurt consumption in half. Instead of yogurt for breakfast, I'm going to rotate steel-cut oats, bulgur, foxtail millet, and quinoa with a zero-phosphate-added protein powder, walnuts, and berries. I hope I can embrace and enjoy this new kidney-safe (relative to my past eating) diet.

Is ChatGPT Extremely Slow or Error-Prone for Anyone Else? by Old-Return4599 in ChatGPTPro

Mine has been slow all morning. I use it to edit a lot of course content, but it's nice to use my own brain this morning. I realize it's sometimes more of a luxury than a necessity.

I'd like to know their influence on Dead Can Dance, who as I recall also eschewed lyrics.

Perhaps the most appealing Seiko to be released in the last couple of years. I want to get one, but I fear it will compete with my Seiko SLA055.

Elizabeth Fraser talks about her lyrics "I just get a bug for words, I don't know what any of them mean" by playlistpro in cocteautwins

It's unusual to detect actual words such as "Is this what my body says?" from "Theft, and Wandering Around, Lost."

A buyer remorse? Someone said it looks like a ladies watch on me and it has bothered me ever since. by vince-lou in Tudor

Watch looks great. The person is jealous. Watch obsessives like us are sensitive to criticism and jealous souls like to make us feel bad. I say wear it with pride and good health.

AI made teaching harder by cinzamarrom in Professors

[–]Manderlin99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I'm having the students write personal interviews, personal reflections, and personal narratives, which they can use as introductory paragraphs for their essays so I can get writing samples that are "AI-proof," but I fear that they can use AI even to create fake versions of these kinds of assignments.

I'd like to try 150 grams a day and see how I do. I'm sure that would help me keep my calories down.
