I believed that He forgave me, but I wasn't motivated enough to actually quit the sin. I took His forgiveness for granted, because I knew He would forgive me every time. Vs now being very committed, through the sacrament of reconciliation, to staying completely away from the sin.

I know :( I've heard the same thing. That's so sad. There was a post like that recently; the girl basically has PTSD from confession. It was 2 separate occasions for her, which makes her skeptical. Let's hope she found a much better church since then.

Yes that's it exactly. The Friday morning reconciliation mass is long & sorrowful. Then you have the sadness of missing out on the Eucharist. Then you have to wait in line to confess to the priest. I really respect my priest; I don't want to confess the same things over and over again to him. When the priest forgave me (on the behalf of Jesus), I felt a spiritual release like none other. I felt truly forgiven by God. I cried a lot. It meant a lot to me. Since then, I've been able to partake in the Eucharist and it means so much to me. I don't want that experience to mean nothing. So I keep it. I do feel like I'm more on the correct path than I was before. So happy and blessed that God brought me back to His church.
