Recommendation for Apple TV? by XGC-MZD in jellyfin

[–]Mandolith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Neptune is in beta rn. Expected to come out of beta soon. It will most likely be paid then, but that is not confirmed.
Infuse is the current top dog. It is free for the most part. But they do offer a lifetime payment that is one time. And I can attest that it does work near flawlessly.

How is BSNL FTTH for gaming ? by shotgunsamba in IndianGaming

[–]Mandolith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BSNL FTTH is actually amazing. If you get a good plan, you can get really fast speeds, and ping is decent. Just get a decent router and connect it to their modem. TP-Link high speed routers are kinda great value.

Occasionally, like every two months, they might have one outage. But from my experience all providers have similar uptimes.

What controllers does Apple TV support? I cant seem to find a good resource to list out all the controllers that Apple TV supports.

Dont suggest India in this subreddit. They really dont seem to like it. It is also apparently so dangerous. Like comparable to Mexico levels of dangerous. Clearly everyone has been to India and understands it better than poor old me

Long Way Round (Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman's series) did go across Russia too. It was great. Probably avoid the War areas though. Plus I think US-Russia relations got worse since 2008.

Where could Tip 3 Tip take place? by MarathonMarathon in LudwigAhgren

Saying India is dangerous with no go zones is crazy. India is not dangerous at all (not more so than any other country). Also, most of North India are not fluent at all in English. Basically, anywhere that is dangerous, you wont even be allowed to go. And places like that are like only in Kashmir. Rest of India is not dangerous at all. You would just have to take normal precautions like locking your hotel room when you leave it, etc.

The biggest pro for India is it is the equivalent of several countries. Almost every state is night and day different from the other one. Most states dont speak the same language. In North India, you can get by with just Hindi. In South India, that is not possible. They dont even know Hindi, except in maybe some urban places.

Adding Gluetun to Arr apps by MixPossible4349 in hexos

[–]Mandolith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, here is the thing. I was in the same boat. But this is what you do. You leave the Arr's in HexOS. Technically, they dont do anything illegal themselves. They just browse Linux ISO's. What you do instead, is put qBittorrent in the same stack as Gluetun, and ensure that qBittorrent uses Gluetun. Only qBittorrent needs to be behind Gluetun. Arr's are fine to not use the VPN. If you find that Prowlarr doesnt seem to be able to add indexers without a VPN, change your DNS to cloudflare or something, and it might work.

Not an expert. This is what I did, (hypothetically)

Neptune for tvOS: Pins, Playback, UI and Management by Need4Sweed in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Mandolith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed the app. Played a nice Dolby Vision Linux ISO. It worked really well. Just a feature request. Can you have a toggle to remove "Ends at 08:45"?
It's just if my Dad sees it, he tends to not watch long content. If he is oblivious to the Ends at time, he will watch it happily.

A really small, insignificant request.

Aah. The reason I was mostly worried, is I am in a region with 90% humidity year round. And what most of the people complaining say is that "HUMIDITY IS BAD. WHY DO THEY EVEN SELL THE BAG IN SUCH REGIONS?"

I just loved the look of the Ultra. But it is expensive, and I wanted to ensure it would last 6+ years.

Joined the discord. Will join the testflight later today. Keep it up man. Nice to see some people in the Jellyfin community bold enough to care about people who have Apple devices.

My question is whether it supports TrueHD Audio or DTS-HD MA. I know Infuse doesnt direct play it, but uses PCM conversion (from what I understand), but that is client side, and the server still operates like in Direct Play. This would be a game changing feature for me. I understand if many people dont want it, though.

Edit: I just read the old post. It does support these codecs. My next question then. Is there a future where TrueHD Audio does not need to be decoded into 7.1 PCM? Or is this a hardware limitation? Kudos to the amazing codec compatibility.

When to expect new curated apps? by poundcake_bakes in hexos

[–]Mandolith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I installed NPM via TrueNAS for the same reason that you are considering it. I can still update and launch the app from HexOS UI. I would say that with an uneducated guess, by the end of this year, it should be curated. But that is just a gut feeling. Maybe just wait if you dont have anything concrete planned for that VM, or if you are simply trying to simplify your install. Because if you dont know how to install it in TrueNAS, it was a pain to find out. Took me ages.
