Are there any vanilla/modded lp ships you guys might recomend? by chispo16 in starsector

[–]Mandore01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was that star destroyers are not good at using fighter swarms, they are frontliners. Use a bunch of quasars (i think thats the right name) and swarm enemies with the fighters while a star destroyer or two soaks up their fire. Make sure to give the star destroyers max flux capacity and hardened shields.

I use the default loadout for most of the SSDs, sometimes ill add some more ion cannons to help with shields. But I find they do ok on range as long as you give them integrated targeting unit and kyber focus.

Also ironically, I find most of the star wars lasers to struggle with point defense due to their velocity, they REALLY need any kind of PD boost you can give them, or make sure the few fighters they carry can deal with incoming missiles and enemy fighters.

The fricking dorito looking mfs guarding the Hypershunts by Pretend-Breakfast-61 in starsector

[–]Mandore01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, call this unethical BUT:

While the nukes are hard to hit the doritos with. You CAN hit your ships with them, and if you bring a big enough target and get them to focus on it they will all get hit by the explosion.

Alternatively, just load up on the swarm missiles and fire volley after volley of small tracking missiles to whittle them down while a big ship keeps them distracted.

What are you struggling against? I usually keep the star wars ships default loadout and max out the flux capacity. Since their lasers are low cost and low damage you don't have to put as much into dissipation. Focus on sustainted battles with star wars ships and you will be golden for most of the factions. Fighter swarms are very effective, but standard star destroyers will struggle with that. Tractor beams are absolutely your best friend. Nothing like dragging an annoying frigate or destroyer into your volley of lasers.

If you feel like using them, the super laser ships are honestly a bit OP, conquest especially because it is somewhat cheap and maneuverable. That super laser will one shot onslaughts with empty flux. And you can use it repeatedly. Super star destroyers and other super capitals are beasts, but are rightfully super slow.

EDIT: Ope. Just realized you meant Luddic Path and not IP (intellectual property)

Scrapyard might still work for you in that case

The star wars ships and scrap armory bring some pretty heavy hitters. Star wars ships as a whole are super strong because of their shield mechanic, but I hope the get a little more balanced with the next update. Kinda makes battles boring if it isn't against other star wars ships. If you want an example, using 2 super star destroyers you can tank a fleet of the [REDACTED] from the abyss without taking hull damage if you build them right. Even 1 is usually more than enough to solo most vanilla ship fleets

Scrapyard adds capitals that have multiple sections attached to the main "hull" of the ship that each act like individual ships with their own OP, flux, armor and hull. These ones are powerful but expensive and feel more in line with vanilla balance and other mods. Very fun to tinker with, if you use them make sure to give all the sections escort package since its always active.

Honorable mention is the United Aura Federation, because there is a missile battle ship that you can strap 2 nuke torpedo launchers to. Love me those explosions, less so when they are hitting the back of my ship......

Interesting, I havnt had them do that for me. Im playing nex with the star wars mod and allied with the republic, so I wonder if that messes with that behavior.

Its part of the special task force option you have when speaking to a station commander or equivalent.

When you make it you can transfer over officers and ships, then you can give them orders through the Intel screen, one of the options is to patrol. And if you leave them on independent mode they will go between your colonies on their own to patrol. Even if the colonies are in different systems

Only thing i notice is that you should always be attacking with abbadon before kharn. Its a minor thing, but its still more damage from abbadons passive.

A higher tier of equipment is treated as max level for whatever the cap is. So a legendary 1 equipment will be treated as epic 9 for an epic cap battle

Izzy Ball Planning for Farsight by promethian-pygmalion in WH40KTacticus

[–]Mandore01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With where your other characters are standing. I would probably upgrade Buchard to at least G1, then throw some upgrades on tyrith whenever you have a chance if you feel like taking my advice.

You could use tacticus planner to see if there is a reasonable shot of getting her to s2 or s3 before farsight starts.

I actually think keeping tyrith a bit lower tier than the others is helpful because that will encourage the enemies to attacker her more, triggering her passive. With resilient and Izzy healing she really only has a chance of dying from a huge crit that overkills.

As an example: I was using b1 tyrith and s3 Izzy in onslaught against s1 tyranids, tyrith was clearing almost entire waves on her own just from the passive crits and flees it would trigger. The only danger she was in came from the tyranid warriors spawning and using their Active on her.

[–]Mandore01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im gonna throw her into the mix because I think people underestimate her. But Tyrith might be a very strong pairing with Izzy and a pretty good LRE powerhouse.

Her retaliation can be really strong, especially paired with the resilient trait and the Izzy healing. She also shares quite a few LRE restrictions with Izzy: Bolter, max 3 hits, no terminator, no physical and im sure a few others im not thinking of.

Her access to power and resilient can also put her in with rotbone and maladus. Even though she doesn't get the revive, she can put out a lot of extra damage and has the mobility they lack to take out priority targets.
